Athwad Uttarakhand Village Pooja || Concept of Jagar & Mandaan || Village Life

This is a story of Athwad pooja from my maternal village Ghansali.
Ghansali is a village placed in the Dwarikhal Block of Pauri Garhwal district in Uttarakhand. Placed in the rural region of Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, it is one of the 234 villages of Dwarikhal Block of Pauri Garhwal district. According to the government register, the village number of Ghansali is 4947267. The village has 38 houses.
The Concept of Jagar
Jagar dance is a famous dance form that originated in Uttarakhand in the Kumaon and Garhwal regions. The Jagar dance and ritual showcase how the spirits of the ancestors are worshipped amongst the local tribes. Each village and town has its own local gods and deities. Jagar is a ritual through which the tribe from the Kumaon and Garhwal region seek out to the local gods and deities to seek justice in some cases.
The word Jagar for the dance and ritual comes from a Sanskrit word that means 'To Wake'. This ritual helps in seeking penance against crimes that occurred and seeking the gods to serve justice to the people in the Kuman and Garhwal region. Even when someone has fallen sick, people conduct the Jagar dance and ritual in order to find the remedy for the sickness.
This type of dance form is one of the ancient dance forms which were also mentioned in the famous epic scriptures like Mahabharata and Ramayana. Even in these epic scriptures, it was mentioned that each village had its own deity protecting the village, the boundaries, and the people of the tribe. These deities are also known as Bhumyal or Kshetrapal according to the local tribes. This type of dance form and the Jagar ritual is known as the local heritage. Therefore, the culture has been preserved and passed down to the next generation for centuries now. There are many Garhwal region tribes and locals who have settled down in New Delhi and Jagar dance can be seen performed in the city of New Delhi as well.

You are more familiar with the local customs and rituals and more confident in presenting them to neophytes like us. Me especially. Prior to the introduction of religion, humankind was largely animist. Worshippers of nature. And such occasions as the one you have attended are common throughout the country. Not just in Hindu oriented society, but also in the North East where locals are anything but hindus Or buddhists, or Christians. Certain communities in karnataka and Kerala still carry out such elaborate religious gatherings with massive expenditure and pomp. These rituals date back from times that predate Hinduism. One can also witness them in Pakistan's North West. The purpose may differ, but the format is the same. Residents from the hills are simple fun loving people with deep rooted traditions and customs. Such religious meets offer them the opportunity to reunite and relive the past and keep it alive for future generations. I wish you too would make a series of such documentaries to help record and retain the tradition.

Naveen ji, Uttarkashi me ek gaon hai, 'Thati village' ye gaon Uttarkashi ke 'Dhanari Valley ke ander padta hai. Iss gaon par 1-2 videos banayein aur jab aap aas paas ka ilaaka explore karenge to apko Isi valley me ek 'Paneer Village' bhi milegi. Wo bhi explore karein. Yaha ke log paneer bana kar bechte hain. Iske ilawa uttarkashi me ' Barsu village' Raithal Village' Pilang Village' Pujar Village' Patudi Village' aur Anjoot Village.... Ye sab par videos banayein. Bohot hi dilchasp gaon hain ye saare.Anjoot Village is best for forest trekking and nature camping. Only a separate video can be made on Anjoot Forest life.

This is what I like Best Naveen. Core Garwhal , Scenic beauty, culture than recent coverage of Non hills. I have cherished and liked each rich content of Hills but really skipped all other Non core landscape. Bit of human biased but fantastic coverage of Garhwal and Uttarakhand. That is what you are at best. I feel there is no better coverage/ content of Uttarakhand by any other than you and also better ROI as less overhead cost😉 than other states. Naveen ji "Kagbhushundi Taal" Par ek video zarur banayein. "Kagbhushundi Taal" Badrinath valley me stheet hai, jiski trekking Hemkunt sahib aur Valley of Flower 🌺🌻🌹🌷 se shuru hoti hai. Raaste me "Machi taal" (Fish lake) bhi aata hai, is taal pe yogini , Gandharva ya apsarayien raat ke waqt aati hai aur kisi kisi ko dikh bhi jaati hain. Local Guide ko saath me zarur le jaayein. Kagbhushundi taal se jal lekar badrinath aayein, aur wahi jal vishnu ji ko arpit karein. Kagbhushundi me aapko brahmkamal bhi mil sakta hai. 2-3 guide saath zarur le jaayein saath aur akele na jayein.
