To fully benefit from the "snow pack proof design" you mention at 4:50, it helps to simply lock the pins just like you would when you step into the binding. This way, the mechanism is closed and there's no way that any snow can get into the mechanism.

What was the problem with ATK's front brakes? They worked fine for me, and I liked them for engaging in uphill mode as well

Sooo, whats with the 12 mm travel posibility in the back pins? Does that mean you have a massive gap between the binding and back of the boot, or is it an active back piece on a spring that comes in contact with the boot, and will move ?
@alltoone Жыл бұрын
The back pins are supposed to move sideways and not forward/backward. If you look at the heel unit of this binding you can notice a small cutout to allow the pins to move.

How would these work/survive with bigger skiers (200+ lbs naked)….??? Ive founded that in general all these touring pin binders tend to have durability issues and/or the toe pieces are ripped out of the skis because of the way the pressure is distributed in comparison with alpine binders (toes)…
@klas6666 ай бұрын
I had no durability issues with ATKs, skiing them at 93-95 kg since 2018.

@@klas666have you ever tried the dynafit rotations? Do you think these would be better/worse in general?
@klas6666 ай бұрын
@@JMFNinja I started with Dynafit Speed Turns, and then quickly became somewhat of an ATK fanboy. But I don't see why Rotation might be better, especially when we compare them to modern Freeraiders, which are lighter and more featureful, e.g., toe release adjustability
@fjordbear30502 жыл бұрын
looks like a nice binding, however I think the toepiece design on Dynafit ST rotation looks way more friendly towards heavy charging skiers because of the moving toepice. Is it just a regular tech-toepiece without elasticity on the ATK?
@lewisyang91 Жыл бұрын
The dynafit rotation doesn't have any elasticity. Specs for spacing of the boot pin slots are very different, traditionally manufacturers purchased dynafit boot inserts. The rotation gets rid of the friction caused in release by non-spec boot inserts. Another way to do this is adjustable toe pin spacing, but as fritschi tried, it's a pain in the ass.

The rotation is heavy and very annoying to step into vs the ATK which has one of the cleanest step ins and a much lower weight. The security of the ATK and especially release of the new EVO are exceptional.

Anybody know if I can use a Gripwalk sole (with tech inserts of course) with this binding? Cant find that info anywhere

The break does not work at all, it is too weak to stop a wide ski from sliding down the hill. I have experienced that, luckily the ski did not hit anybody.
