A somewhat obvious thing I left out is that it goes more into the favor of elemental/physical damage bonus if your main DPS is a 4-star or using a lower rarity weapon (especially 3-star) as both of those things lower your base attack, making ATK% even worse. Basically, the lower your base attack, the worse ATK% is going to be. Sounds obvious on paper, but there's a lot variables since most units have some mix of physical and elemental damage, and some teams prefer one type over the other.

Good vid for info. But he's wrong about 1 thing. Keqing should never be all elctro build. Your building her wrong. Here's why. Her ability to turn on electro to her basic attack is by far 1 best things in game. Means she don't have to have it on so she can still crush her same element. She literally has no resistance to her because that ability she has. If you invest electro you take that away from her and limit her overall godliness. If a chr default attack uses element. By all means go for it. But that is not a smart move on the best chr in game. Stick to atk and charged damage and wreck everyone with element or no element.

Having electro on Keqing may work for better if you get more elemental damage artefacts. Second elemental artefact would lower physical attack even more but could boost her electro damage to over 1000. Razor tho, all of his damage scales from his attack and he keeps his physical attack even when using ult cuz 2 damage numbers pop up physical and electro which is scaled from his attack, so the only way to build Razor is attack only. Based on these 2 characters it seems every characters needs to be looked at separately to maximize their damage output. Which is awesome, it makes every character unique.

It's all about taking advantage of elemental reactions A pyro slime isn't "weak" to water because "water beats fire", but because water attacks Vaporize which deals 2x damage against burning enemies. It's different than say Diluc or Keqing who can infuse their weapons with their element and deal 0 physical damage. His stand providing electro allows him to proc superconduct for physical defense debuff, which is why he's so good.

It's because the higher your atk, the more diminishing the return is as compared to having another multiplier like electro damage bonus. This is why all atk is not as good as mixing atk/em/element dmg%. This is actually also a mathematical model where to get the most of it, you do want to mostly split the balance between all of those stats. (Simply said, not going into details here).

Another thing I don't think mentioned in the video, the electro dmg bonus from the cup and Lion's Roar (when it's proccing) are additive. Same with any physical dmg% bonuses, etc. It's great to have 1-2 sources of these, but stacking crit and crit damage is always the biggest boost to your overall DPS lategame. Hence why, in your case, the ATK% piece is way better since it has crit and crit dmg substats, and you already have a source of bonus dmg% in Lion's Roar.

@@sunimod1895 Nowhere. Gotta test it. But rule of thumb is that you want to mix your damage modifiers and not just have ATK%. Also as mentioned in the video ATK% increases only care about your base ATK and ignore flat increases like your feather and other artifact bonuses. Crit is another layer that increases your damage multiplicatively based on your total ATK but needs more investment than %damage to be useful. Then there are modifiers like Lion's Roar that I'm not really sure how they are applied. For example Klee's ascension talent that increases her charged attack damage by 50% when she has the little flower around her doesn't actually increase it by 50%. It's much less. So I'm guessing that those types of modifiers are added to some other modifier which makes them less powerful then they look. I've seen vids where Klee's charged attack goes from 4k to 5k which is only a 25% damage increase. I'm guessing the 50% simply get's added to other direct damage increases like elemental damage%.

Not really, there are many games that do similar stuff, where equipment increases % of the base stats, rather than overall. In the end, it acts as a soft damage cap that can be done in the game.

All flat atk substats and feather main stat get added on at the end in the green number, and don't affect how much atk% gives you. It is still quite strong early on though, when you may not have nearly 1k base atk for a % increase to be better than the feather. I sort of disagree with the video saying that if you have high base atk, atk% gets an edge over elemental dmg though. If your base atk is high, that doesn't change the ratios of atk% to your overall dmg, and if you're primarily dealing in elemental dmg, elemental will almost always be better unless you already get a lot of it from somewhere and have almost no atk%. Easiest way to think about it imo is you want to add % to whichever % increase is lower on your character for an elemental character. If you have +50% elemental and +25%atk. %atk is better. However, if your character isn't super elemental focused, then atk% may be better. I haven't decided if splitting stats into atk% phys % and elem % is actually wise for half phys half elem characters, but I think it might work out nicely if you happen to be stuck with, say, a physical dmg bonus weapon.

Kequing tip. If you are going for all out physical damage then you must not imbue your sword with electric. That's why you never recast (teleport) with your E. When you you throw your E out always do a charge attack to make it explode. This prevents your weapon being imbued with electricity so you can keep your DPS. Also helps when you fight with electro immune enemies.

7:02 actually even if the weapon is 5 stars, having higher base ATK and all, the ATK% bonus from the goblet will still yield smaller DMG than an Electro DMG Bonus would. The reason is that because ATK is counted in the formula earlier, which got calculated against enemy's DEF. But Elemental (and Physical) DMG Bonus is counted later in the formula.

minor addition: 1. i can't imagine a situation where you'd run atk% on your cup piece, because in general (assuming this build will be for your main carry character), you'd want to run physical damage% on them, unless those character deal their respective elemental damage 90% oh the time (keqing, diluc, chongyun), in which case go for their elemental damage%. correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe there is no character that has a 50-50 physical and elemental damage ratio. 2. characters like klee and mona doesn't deal elemental damage most of the time. they deal elemental damage all of the time wym m8 kekw thanks for the testing tho!

I would say Venti, apart from his elemental skill and burst, he is physical dps with his arrows, so I would say he is 50/50. I focus on his skills rather than basic attack, but considering the cooldowns, you have to attack physically a lot as well in between.

Not always, if you want a physical build, you can also hit 15 of 20 attacks with physical damage, it’s all about how you time your attacks, late game of course full electro is better but mig game- early game a physical build can be very useful

The only problem with stacking Elemental over Physical, is that when you come across an enemy who is immune to your element, it negates all that bonus damage anyways. With just physical, you're still doing damage, no matter the element of the enemy. This is why I'll always go for pure physical/ATK %/Flat ATK over Elemental Bonus. Can't kill an Electro slime with an Electro infused sword, but can kill it with just a normal sword.

Depends how you decide to use your Keqing, you can build a 3-person elemental team, and use Keqing purely to spam charged physical attacks while waiting for cooldowns to refresh. This may be a better way to utilize her, considering her charged attack damage multiplier is significantly higher than the majority of the multipliers on her Ult, and there is no downtime while waiting for animations to start, when your DPS window is small, you can just get right to DPS, instead of spending a good second and a half animation locked after you press Q. You can effectively build Keqing using an Elemental build only, but just know that there is a time limited to how long she remains electro-charged after using her Elemental stiletto attack, before all of her hits are purely physical. The moment she is hitting for physical damage only, all of the investments you have made into her Elemental attack damage is going to waste. Electro uptime may only be 75% vs. 100% uptime of Physical, since you have control over that.

Excellent video! From my experience and from footage of pretty good Keqing players, I can agree that she works best with more attack in a superconduct team, because her damage output is insane due to her passive (more crit damage). Her highest possible damage output comes from physical with superconduct. However, what I've learned is that Beidou works best with lots of crit rate/damage and elemental damage. I've achieved the highest counterattack numbers with boosting elemental, not pure attack, and your video just perfectly explained why.

I’m glad I found your video. It has provided some thought about how I can begin to approach certain characters that look to benefit more in the ATK% than just the elemental dmg bonus%. And some I recognize I have are capable of either/or route and so forth. I’ve been building my diluc main that with my current setup is capable of causing lots of damage output both physical and pyro so far. Working on getting good crimson witch of flames set lately. I have some like Rosaria and others that I’m facing that dilemma as well so will decide on how I’ll build them on this regard. And I definitely do prefer to give my Razor that piece of Physical DMG bonus I have in my artifact collection lol.

@@omamba5105 "Diminishing returns at 80%" or "having a cap at 80%" means that you don't gain as much as normal if you keep stacking it, so is not worth keep focusing on increase that stat (in this case focusing on crit chance when you have 80%). There was a post in the miHoYo forum where someone tested that 100% crit rate didn't crit every hit, and he found the explanation. I will try to find the post!

Fischl could work, but his cryo only procs once on the skill activation. The problem there is that Fischl is a single target DPS. Xingqiu/Barbara could work too, but then I should be investing in EM instead of wasting artifacts on him.

on my fischl i mainly do basic attack, 18%att and 12%crit rate. gonna change it if i got crit rate mask to 18%att and 25% pyschal dmg. if you want to go thunder set it would be a support. Keqing and Razor change/add electro damage if use skill(mainly what this vid talking about) ex. so for noel go with geo bonus dmg, because if ult her att will become geo dmg.

I would say Cryo, flat damage seems to actually beat out Attack% right up until you get to end-game with a 5* weapon. Also Chongyun with his AOE will apply frost to the weapon of anyone inside of it - I'm not 100% on this but I think it takes his elemental mastery and applies that to the weapon so for Chongyun specifically I think you want to use as much elemental mastery as possible so that if you cycle to lets say Razor for Shatter damage you keep the bonus damage from the elemental mastery. My plan is to use Barbera for Wet, then freeze mobs with Chongyun's AOE, switch to Razor because he's my tanky bruiser to apply Shatter for big damage. He will still have Wet and Chonyun's AOE that applies ice to the weapon, so you can Wet, Freeze, shatter, rinse repeat and any lightning abilities I use giving overcharge for a 50% physical resistance debuff, which is good because thats what Razor mostly is.

This info has been out for almost 2 weeks now. And you made a big mistake flat atk also boost the white number. So if you have an artifact with a large flat atk number it can be good on some unit! Edit: i was also confimed and tested this week that the crit rate cap has been removed, so you can get 100% crit rate and crit all the time!
