ATL: The Day of Days - Hitting the Heavy Jet Cargo Jackpot

Sunday, 11/3/2013 - An Operation that was intended to be the weekends last early AM quest for exotic cargo heavies/other sites worth-a-marvel. Having failed in previous attempts, morale was not high. But coordination w/Spotter Scout Michael Digiorno allowed us to develop & execute a strategy that was successful beyond our wildest dreams. Air Traffic Control, Flight Delays Abroad, and the end of Daylight Savings time also contributed to this victory. But me & Michael did most of it.

MAGNIFICENT video Matt!!! Definitely one of your best videos yet!! So many amazing catches!!! Really loved the KAL A380 and then umm...the freaking SPEEDBIRD WORLD CARGO BOEING 748!!!!!!! WOW!!! That was a great shot!! It stinks that the air traffic controllers made the 748 land on the other runway at the last second. :( I also loved the Spirit A320 new livery party!! And then that FedEx A310 was just beautiful!!! Great rare catch!!! I think you know I liked it a lot!!!

That A310F was awesome! A rare jet nowadays! Delta had a couple of them I think. They had em in the widget livery! That American A319 with sharklets was also awesome too. And of course that 787-8 was a rly cool highlight! Great video Matt

6 747's gosh you might be used to them by now. 2 of them were 747-800 and a Korean air A380. Ive also seen A310's at knoxville before because I visit there every 4 months. I love that BA livery and that cathay livery. One of your best videos ever!!!!!

Wow Matt!!! Super impressive video! All those 747s were FANTASTIC! The 748 is not composite by the way, the fuselage is mainly aluminium just like the 777 etc. I was spotting on the weekend and waiting for a Philippines A340 to depart, and I moved spots thinking it would go off 27 but then the sent it off 16 - the first aircraft to do that for the day - similar to what happened with that BA 748.

I have no idea what his username is on instagram as I don't mess around with that. But maybe his channel will have a link to it.

What a day Matt. What a day. Today we focused on the 747 and cargo jets. Is it just me or does the cargo 748 seem much longer than the pax version? You made a valiant effort trying to catch British Airways. I think ATC owes you a favor. That colgate plane N501MJ, is one I have seen myself on several occasions.

You can use FlightRadar24, Flightaware, there are many different radar websites that show when the planes come in.

Matt, the 737-900 doesn't have up swept wing tips like the 800 does. Just like the 737-600 doesn't have up swept wing tips like the 700 does. :))
