@@rpriesol most of the swich is set to automatic. The point of the checklist is to make sure it works if it taken out of automatic. +Saud Siddiqui Raises questions though. Does Everest really have the gradually 'slightening' slopes necessary to correct the down pitch at startup without crushing the nose gear at the same time? Do the passengers get a heads up on the minor pressure discomfort that can occasionally occur? Isn't the Annapurna inflight route ultimately a little on the rocky and foggy side? I've heard cynic pilot remarks about monsoon season wind shear being worse than for any other +7000m international airport.

The APU is a turbojet, in essence. When starting up an engine, fuel is not introduced into the engine until (if I recall) N2 is around 20%. After that, the engine is self-sustaining. The engine parameters are monitored in the cockpit. As for the APU, the computer handles all the startup and introduction of fuel, I would imagine, as there is no monitoring of its engine parameters.

What is wrong with every second commenter pointing out some irrelevant fact about him not following real world procedures 100% (ADIRS 1,2,3 not 1,3,2, the doors are open, MCDU Flightnumber didn't match callsign, Runway isn't used for T/O..). This was not the point of this video. He wanted to provide a short video (maybe within the old youtube 15 min limit) on how to start an Airbus 320 without any prior knowledge. And I think he accomplished that. If you want to follow the procedures 100% then go grab them online and follow them with the visual aid of this video - as most of the important steps are shown here.

Both lights are illuminated, ie the test is performing quite well. And (3) we can START the APU itself. We start the MASTER SWITCH ON and (4) the START.

Thank God I found this video. I came home from work and found that someone had parked a A320 in my back yard. I found out later that the A320 was an inheritance from a uncle who I never knew about. As it turns out, my uncle felt that I was the only one worthy of the A320 -- so he gave it to me. At first I was a little ticked because I wish my uncle had just left me some cash -- but then I got to thinking that I can start my own airline. So I guess it's a matter of when life hands you a free A320 -- make an airline out of it...

My instructor pilot was old school and taught me to memorize checklists and procedures from the manual and do them from said memory. That way I had a full understanding of the systems and only needed to use the checklists as just that, a check-list. Way too many pilots using them as do-lists and are way too dependent on them as an operator. As the aircraft became more complicated, the longer the nights became studying and memorizing.
