I love your comments. Actually, the hot dog bun at the Varsity is the type I am used to in New England. Our buns are always toasted and buttery - for hot dogs and also for lobster rolls. They are the best!!! I am always disappointed when I get the other style roll, which to me is boring.

Hi guys. You know your Atlanta friend is here for the history. Frank Gordy who founded the Varsity was kicked out of Ga Tech for academic reasons. So he went across the street and opened the Varsity. You know your Atl friend will keep you posted on all the history. My birthday is March 29th.

Vortex looked delicious. Glad you enjoyed your extra long weenie, Lisa! Sometimes the nostalgia of a place is difficult to capture. The Varsity does look like a place that you go to just for the nostalgia of it and have something just to say you did. It looks like you sort of knew what you were in for when you went. Definitely not a place to go to if you want a luscious food experience. I'm so happy you are the type of people to find the positive in everything.
