The decision to get both just never computed in my head. For it to have been a great idea, they would have had to have went on a deep run with Cousins for 2 years.. and then Penix would have had to step in & be elite immediately
@samuelwallace2782Күн бұрын
It made sense the way drafting Jordan Love eventually made sense. If your older qb is great, no problem. You sit your prospect behind him and let him learn and develop. Then in a few years, he's ready to start. If your vet falls apart, at least you have someone to step up. Everyone criticizing drafting Penix correctly pointed out that the Falcons needed help on defense. But it turns out that a pass rusher wouldn't have saved cousins.
@ryanblosser6081Күн бұрын
It was a good idea, so long as you thought he was healthy. I mean, a months ago they were 6-3. You can't just say "see Kirk was bad this was dumb" He threw for 500 yards. Looked smart
@joeperry2065Күн бұрын
Gettng both was dumb. Penix was thought to be the most day 1 ready and everyone knew he'd be there at 8. They could have used that 45 mil a year to get more talent around Penix.
@tb2704Күн бұрын
@@samuelwallace2782 The end goal was the same, yes, but the situations are different. Love was considered a project QB. Penix was a pro ready prospect. Rodgers had been there for years, and the Packers were a perennial playoff team with him, so you knew what you were getting. .. plus he only had 2 years left of guaranteed money. Cousins was brought in as a free agent on a 4 year deal with $100 mill guaranteed. Way more uncertainty. It’s different. The Love pick made more sense
