This will make you sad. Your experience at KEH is the way every good camera store used to be. Buying a camera was a different experience back in the day. Congratulations, and thanks for the great video! I love your pictures, by the way.

The notches on the top left of the frame (horizontal shots) indicate to me that your camera has seen pro use in its life. Usually these were put there to let the photo dept know which photographer to credit or which camera to service if there were problems with the images by the different patterns on the edge of the frame. I have two F3s, great camera. Remember some spare batteries.

One of the things I love about the F3 is the sheer volume of accessories available. Shooting waist level with the viewfinder off is good, but Nikon made a waist level finder for some extra magnification and dust protection. I also bought a Type E focusing screen that I adore. Really easy to personalize it to make it the ultimate shooting experience.

You have a well cared for pro camera. The four notches indicate it was the 4th camera for whoever previously owed it. We use to do that 'back in the day' so if one body failed we would quickly know which one needed to go in for repair. I used F3 cameras for years as a photojournalist. Have fun with it!

The Nikon F3 is my favorite 35mm SLR. A friend let me borrow hers for a year and I fell in love. She asked for it back and the desire to shoot film has gone down because the experience isn’t the same. I am definitely in the market to buy my own F3.

Finding a camera that gels with you when you shoot it is such a great feeling. It’s something that looking at specs or watching reviews won’t ever replace. I have MANY cameras, but recently pulled out my old Konica Autoreflex TC with 40mm f/1.8 and found it a joy to shoot even though on paper it doesn’t tick many boxes for me. Great set, great video.

This was my main camera for YEARS. I still bust it out occasionally It's one of the pinnacles of Nikon's history. (Controversial at the time because of the electrics - the Nikon F and F2 were 100% mechanical except for the light meters inside their "photomic" prisms.) Great stuff! Keep up the good work!

Love the shots of Atlanta taken with a camera like the F3 I used to know in the 80s. The temporary red fingernails were an interesting effect early in the video, then gone on the day hanging out waiting on the flight to depart that evening. Unique.

Just discovered your channel as a rec from Thomas Heaton's videos (he was also in Andalusia) and I absolutely love your style of shooting! Incredibly inspired. Especially because I moved to Atlanta a year ago, and haven't taken the time to do a walk like this since I moved. I always feel more courage to photo-walk when I'm out traveling, but since ATL is now home, it's somehow much more intimidating. Thanks for waking me up to the opportunities and beauty here :)

My first love of photography began in 1975 when I took a course in photography. Naturally, I was not familar with the aspect of artistic and development at first, however, the more I progressed, it became a lifetime fascination. Today, I enjoy digital and learning software to enhance my photographs, but nothing beats the nostalgia with 35mm camera development and printing. FYI, last week, I have purchased a F3 from a seller on Facebook Market Page and shooting with Ilford XP2 super 400 film.

The F3 (& the various iterations of the F4) are solidly built film cameras - I always have one or the other with me; coincidentally, B & W is my favourite medium; colour's OK, but it detracts from the subject matter , primarily because one third of the World's populace can only see in monochrome - the other 66% have the advantage of polychromatic vision - it's a great motivator to perceive everything in the grey scale vis-a-vis the often taken-for-granted colour scales that we witness each day of our lives. B & W also renders the subject matter (whatever that may be) in a more moody context. Great video !

Own an F, an F2, an F3, an F4, and an F801. Lovely cameras. And CoolScan V to scan. The F3 was bought by me in 1981 (the F1 was bought in 63 by my dad).....found an HP viewfinder later. It was plagued by an intermittent fault for 4 years and 5 Nikon services in 2 Nikon service points. Then, I insisted on a flexprint change. 2 days later, a letter. The print had a tear I couldn't have caused myself. All bills were refunded. Since then, it never missed a beat. Later, I also shot a Fuji GX680. Great photos as well. The F and the F3 I will never sell, the rest maybe..... And, great photos. Street, you should only be allowed to shoot on film. As you do, it's magical. And important. Keep your keen eyes open, and enjoy.

If you care about bokeh, get the Nikon 50/1.8 Series E lens (the version with the narrow silver ring around the barrel) for your F3. It’s cheap as hell, but it’s fantastic and small. Shoot it at 2.5 and the OoF is amazing. I spent so much money on Leicas for years, and then I paid $40 for that Series E Nikon and finally got the results I always wanted.

Nice video with good inspirations. I myself have experience with analog black and white photography since the early 1990s. Have also developed my own films and made prints. I find that too much hype is made about analog photography. Yes, it is great to continue the analog craft, but this craft can nowadays be continued more flexibly on the digital way, in a higher quality. I see a lot of work from good photographers who are still moving in the analog world. I am firmly convinced that nowadays you can achieve just as good, if not better, results in the digital world. So much for all the hype with analog photography.
