I only know if very athletic men, who have gotten this disease…why? Pushing themselves to extreme physical accomplishment?

My grandma on my Mom’s side died from ALS!! She found out in February of 1987 that she had it, by June she couldn’t walk, the end of August she was admitted to the hospital because she was having a hard time breathing & she died on September 26, 1987. She didn’t want to have a trach put in or prolong her death. I was 6 & my last memory of her was her laying in the hospital & she could barely write anymore but she managed to write a note to me saying that it was her time to go be with the angels BUT between her diagnosis & her losing the ability to walk her & my grandpa went & bought me birthday & Christmas presents for the next 5 years. Normal people can get ALS it’s not just something that athletes & men get.
