Atlantic City Beach Replenishment Update - Drone Video

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Philadelphia District has started a major beach replenishment project for Absecon Island, NJ!
A $38.2 million contract has been awarded to Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company to dredge and place 1.2 million cubic yards of sand onto the beaches of Atlantic City, Ventnor City, Margate, and Longport. 🌊🏖️
The project aims to combat coastal erosion and protect against storm damage by widening the beaches and repairing dunes, access paths, and sand fencing. Sand will be sourced from designated borrow areas in Absecon Inlet and offshore in the Atlantic Ocean.

✔️ Cost: $38.2 million
✔️ Sand Volume: 1.2 million cubic yards
✔️ Construction Start: November 2024 (Atlantic City) | December 2024 (Ventnor City)
✔️ Estimated Duration: 2-4 months (weather dependent)
This project is a joint effort between USACE, the NJ Department of Environmental Protection, and local municipalities. The Absecon Island beachfill project originally began in 2004 and continues to be maintained to ensure coastal protection.

Hey, Joey! I'm a big fan of your "Wildwood Archives" since I vacationed there with my family for many years, among other places "down the shore", but I never knew you covered other towns. I'm keeping track of the beach replenishment project in A.C., because I go there by bus from where I live near Syracuse, N.Y. twice a year ( June and September, usually ). Believe it or not, I don't even gamble! I love the ocean, so I go down just to be on the beach and the boardwalk for a few days. Your series keeps me in touch with what's going on on the Jersey Shore in between, and it's much appreciated! Next best thing to being there, as they say. Keep up the good work, my friend! 👍👍

You should go crabbing in bridge creek in Staten Island it on the western side of Staten Island there are flounder and crab 🦀 and striped bass can you please 🙏 go crabbing there when it the season please 🙏

Joey watch your back. Atlantic City is the #1 most dangerous city in New Jersey. A neighbor got mugged a block from a casino on a summer afternoon.

There are dangers in every city. If you keep to the area of the boardwalk, you'll usually be fine, or so they say. The shopping outlet area is probably pretty safe, as well, according to what I've heard.
