Thank you for uploading this video. I have SO many memories of visiting AC in the 90's with the family but sadly barely a photo or souvenir to remember it by outside of my memory. I've tried finding pics of Tropworlds amusement park, the old Ocean One ship mall with the huge arcade in the back, Caesars before the remodel, etc. Your video put a huge smile on my face and I'm going to show this to the rest of the family too.

Thanks for leaving a comment... you sound like me... heh every couple of weeks I hit Flickr, KZbin, Twitter in hopes of new results when I search things like "atlantic city boardwalk arcade" or whatever... sadly, not many folks seem to have converted their old tapes over for uploading. I sure wish I recorded more when I had the chance back then. Like you said, the huge Ocean One arcade with the big video wall, Roger's Arcade, even the Bally's arcades and the one inside Caesar's on the second floor... heh so many things that only exist in our memories for now :)

@@MisterRubbertoe Hi old friend! Ahh, the old Caesars. So many memories of going there as a kid before the remodel. If I recall correctly, the arcade was called The Electric Room. Located all the way in the back on the 2nd floor, right by the escalators heading down to the boardwalk. Will always remember the trip we went when my sister and I discovered they had closed it up. It was shortly thereafter my family switched to TropWorld with their indoor amusement park. Good times in old AC, even if hardly anybody documented it :) My biggest regret was back in 98 or 99, our family had a mini suite one time at the Trop and it had a VCR in it. Naturally, my first instinct was to buy a blank VHS tape so I could record the casino channel (remember those?). This was back when they actually put some effort into them. Sadly, over the years the tape went missing, otherwise I would of gladly put it on KZbin for others to view.

@@DeanNJN yup, same here … for some reason, even when I HAD a camcorder, I didn’t realize how many things that I’d wanna look back on in the future heh but yeah, I didn’t remember the name of the Caesar’s arcade, but you described it just right … second level where you could also look down into the casino - and when I went, the first machines as you entered the arcade were Robot Bowling and Reactor 🥰 Man… that memory might have slipped away, had you not told your story and brought it back to life in my head. 😌 Then Bally’s… I remember the one that opened to the boardwalk, but then I remember another one( also on a second floor I believe - and kind of just in a big room without much outside fanfare. I remember it being green, but that might be wrong … but my memorable games there were Journey, Bump n Jump, and Crystal Castles Boy… how I wish I could snap my fingers and go back in time for a day, eh?

@@MisterRubbertoe I remember the opening where you could watch the casino floor. The glass had like a weird diamond cut design to it. I remember it most the time my dad lifted me up so I can look down and he dropped his pack of cigarettes onto the glass. Oops.

The closest thing I have to time travel. What I wouldn't give to go back for a day as my current self. Thank you for this.

Amen brutha…. I kick myself for not taking more video and pics. I suppose in the heyday of the arcades, camcorders weren’t quite a thing yet… but yeah, at least I coulda got more pics heh thanks for the comment though, glad it gave you a smile :)

Thank you for uploading this. I used to visit Atlantic City with my family all the time in the 90s and this brought back so many memories. I never thought I'd see the inside of that Sands people mover or the old pier mall again.

That was a good time to visit AC. From that point right up to about 2010 was AC best years. I am still going a few times a year not sure if I like the new changes that are happening there. But nothing stays the same. Thank you for posting this video.

@@vault1021 Nice! I didn't realize that Google Maps had Street View *on* the boardwalk too ... tnx for nudging me that direction. And that area really started out as "our spot" back when the fam started going there in the mid to late 80s... we stayed at the Continental Motel / Inn for quite a while, until it finally got mooshed along with most of the other stuff there on MLK and surrounding. take care

@@vault1021 Hmm... almost looks like a regular shmo provided that particular area of Street View images on the boardwalk... just noticed in the upper left it says "Larry Strange" and I can see a shadow of a fella with a camera on his head :)

Valentina Dulce I keep scouring Flickr and Twitter and Google to look for photos and videos from the boardwalk, the arcades, the shops from this era... it’s amazing how little I’ve been able to find - and it sucks because I’m sure there are thousands of people with old home videos and photos... but just not in digital shareable form heh thanks for the comment though... makes me happy to make people happy :)

Pedaissance I wish I knew... I haven’t watched it in a while but there’s probably context clues that would help a local to the area be able to figure it out. Hmm... perhaps signs for upcoming concerts or shows in the background...

@@MisterRubbertoe Wild West opened July 2, 1997. So it is likely before that, Wild West is under construction. My best guess is early 1997, since Wild West looks very close to done. If this video was taken early in the year, like March/April -- I'd for sure vote 1997. The "Cats" boardwalk billboard sign at one point says the show runs May 22-28 but I cannot find any internet record of the Cats show in AC unfortunately, that would really help nail down the date.

walshington I bet you’re right ... we usually would go on our vacations in the spring, and since you’ve got the timeframe that it opened for business, you’ve probably helped me date one of these old videos more accurately than I’ve ever been able to do heheh

@@MisterRubbertoe Thanks for uploading this. I come back and rewatch it occasionally. It has so many memories for me. I loved the Sands "people mover" very intensely as a kid but there's so much more. It's probable my dad was working on the inside of the Wild West Casino on electric and lighting as you were filming this. Really nostalgic wonderful upload. Thank you.
