Definitely, I can try this with Fusso Coat. I think some LSP's can run interference with the polish more than others, and some don't need to be knocked down at all, just depends on what you're working with. If it happens, the polish is usually going to be uncharacteristically difficult to wipeoff and the finish left behind is not as clean looking. It might not mean much at all for the LSP that comes afterwards, as products don't necessarily require absolute cleanliness for performance. Usually I will run Prep-All as my pre-polish wipe, or McKee's 37 Coating Prep Polish as a nonabrasive cleaner prior to polishing with abrasives on the test panel.

Thanks MeanBee! So fun to get the hose out and see this type of behavior in action, mesmerizing! I was happy to see the market shift, coatings brought such a vastly greater durable performance and they overshadowed the mystique and draw of these top dollar waxes in my eyes. The market still found a way to build an exclusive style system with the influx of all of these professional-only or certified-only coatings, that I wish I could get my hands on to test! But at least from a price to performance aspect, the clients are ending up with much better protection as opposed to just the hype of the insanely expensive waxes. I still want to get my hands on more Vintage, and find a sample of Royale to play around with!

What a video and rundown. Appreciate this!
@joevanseeters28734 жыл бұрын
Once again, you never disappoint on the appropriateness of your video. This particular video was great in the fact you showcased that the normal weekend (aka "driveway") enthusiast such as myself does not need to spend a fortune on a wax to put onto a vehicle, even if that vehicle is a show car or Ferrari F40, in the rare event that someone like myself could even afford anything even remotely close to a level of vehicle like that...which ain't happenin'! Anyway, back to the point, yes, those initial hydrophobic's are some of the most impressive you've showcased on your channel. BUT, after a strip wash, BAM, yep, it's pretty much gone, showing that those expensive waxes aren't much better than Turtle Wax from a practical standpoint. Yes, they may look absolutely drop dead gorgeous on a car going to Pebble Beach for judging and appropriately so. That's a scenario where I would say, yes, 100% it would be worth using it. And you really wouldn't care about the price because I'm sure those jokers are paying 20 times that much or more to get their vehicles detailed for "the lawn at Pebble". But the most important thing I got from this video is I can buy a can of Fusso Coat for about $40 and get close to the level, or comparable level of hydrophobic's and my $40 worth of hydrophobic's will hold up for about a year with good maintenance washes and occasional top ups. OK, i'll pay the $40 and spend my other approximately $1575 on insurance, gas, and all my detailing products for a year on my Nissan 370Z that I got used, with super low miles, for a fantastic price, in almost new condition, and I only drive occasionally as my extra car. Great video bud. Keep up the impressive testing you do, it helps a bunch of us out here in the real world. Joe
@WaxMode4 жыл бұрын
Cheers Joe! Love those 370Z's, check out Car Cleaning Guru wash his Nismo on here if you haven't seen it yet, just a really cool looking car: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nF7PpmCPabVrgpI You're exactly right, the idea that you will get the kind of performance as a protectant like Fusso Coat, while spending $1,600 dollars on the wax is just not going to happen. For that kind of money I would expect the wax to add about a 1-2mil thick layer of impenetrable hydrophobic wizardry! Or perhaps guarantee the best of show award at Pebble Beach! Zymol is a good wax, possibly a great wax, but it will never match the hydrophobic staying power of Fusso. This insane water behavior is quite short lived in the real world, although I am able to get upwards of 2-3 months of durability from Zymol, it does slow down significantly after a few weeks where Fusso is still quite the monster. Again, always appreciate your comments and thoughts!

@@WaxMode I have seen Car Cleaning Guru's Nismo! I follow his channel also and he has some really great content as well. I actually looked at several Nismo 370z's but I couldn't pass on this one as it was 6 years old, in mint condition, with only 11,000 miles and almost HALF the price of the Nismo. I went with the 370Z Touring which is close to the Nismo in performance but doesn't have all the Nismo bits. The body style hasn't changed in FOREVER, but for the money, reliability of a Nissan, the horsepower in a fairly small car, and fun factor, it's really one of the best sports car deals on the market right now. And there is a ton of used ones out there so the deals are incredible.

One thing to note... is at least for waxes like zymol titanium you can re apply it to an already protected car assuming your paint doesn't need claying reapplying as maintenance is definitely easier than going through the whole process with hd-cleanse again. Titanium easily would last me at least 3-6 months in California even when I would leave the car outdoors during the mornings and nights and wiped down then under a car cover when at work still in the sun. Just make sure the detail spray you are using doesn't take away from the wax. Without the car cover though... I would say it cuts the durability to about 3ish months.... Which isn't bad at all for a wax that looks so good. I have also used Sonax CC36 and Sonax BSD and Sonax PNS.... Some times i would use sonax pns and then top it with zymol. Beading insantity....BEADSANITY... haha. I am really curious about the new HD-cleanse with Si02 in it... That being said... CC36 is fantastic... but nothing quite beats the Zymol Look. I've also seen cars that were covered in a garage that were Zymol'd before storage and amazingly the zymol will last years on cars in storage. 3 or 4 years later the car was still glowing and still beading...

Zymol will always have a place on my detailing heart, I bought a bunch of their products when I first got into detailing and I still have my container of Carbon and Creame. They certainly smell the best and are wonderful in the short term but a few days cooking in the hot sun will cook most if not all of the protection off.

Definitely, Zymol can take a sizable hit in performance in the sun, one of the reasons why short term consecutive wash testing and strip wash testing are not accurate determinants of long term durability.

@waxmode so i find that having a car cover for when your car is out of the garage or at work really does help the longevity of the waxes... in the California sun.... Really depends 3 months maybe without a car cover... Maybe 6 months to a year if it's garaged and covered outside during working hours... Depending how much it's driven.... I've seen zymol titanium last longer than 2 years on cars that haven't been driven and been garaged and been covered for long lengths of time.... It all depends... Nothing really beats the look of a their waxes... I love that you don't discount waxes.... Compared to coatings... Both have their places... I've also used somax cc36 ceramic coating love that too... It's infact amazing.... But I still go back to zymol

@kongzongleechen15244 жыл бұрын
IMO, the zymol's high-end wax is seek to extremely clarity in order to reveal the high-end car‘s perfect paint work rather than cloak it. Some lower-level wax is designated to cloak flaw on paint, which changed the sense of vision also.
@WaxMode4 жыл бұрын
It's tricky for sure. Wax clarity is one thing that the glossmeter will pick up on, any wax that provides a superior clarity will be able to maintain better gloss units on paint that has been polished to the highest level that abrasives can achieve without wetsanding. Atlantique will still reduce the measurable gloss rating on this panel compared to the post-abrasive step, and it's similar to other waxes in how much it will reduce the numbers. That's because the oils in the wax are at play which diffuse the light and this accounts for the lower measurable gloss. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing at all! The oils in the wax that aren't fully absorbed by the microfiber are possibly the main attribute in increasing paint depth, wetness, and richness.

Hey, you ever heard of Zymol Field Glaze? I just came across it by chance on Detailing.com website and was wondering if you had any experience with it? It is a spray wax. Looks to be a topper or "in between" waxing type product. I just wondered if it was any good or how easy it was to use, apply and remove. The description I found says: -Naturally Derived Product---21% mixture of Florida Carnauba Sap and Purified Spring Water---Pure Coconut and Avocado Oils---Enjoy the spray wax that Aston Martin uses at their factory.

Hey Joe! No I actually never picked up Field Glaze, but I have heard some good reviews for it. Nothing super special, there’s a lot of products now in this spray on category that can compete with one another. If not then Ultimate Quik Wax or Hybrid Ceramic Detailer would get the most use from me after washings.

I have been using Zymol Concours for over thirty years and the products are amazing. The water beading only lasts three to four weeks but I have seen the product stay on the paint for almost six months. I wonder how Zymol performs as a topper for a ceramic?
@WaxMode4 жыл бұрын
Concours definitely feels a bit unique to me compared to the rest of the Zymol lineup, bit different texture to it, much different scent as well. Great wax. As far as topping a full ceramic coating like CQUK 3.0, I wouldn't recommend it. The wax can clog the coating up and since it's a heavier product, once the wax degrades you're going to lose that awesome hydrophobic property that the coating provides by itself. On a coating much more weathered I most likely wouldn't mind topping that with a wax, but that wouldn't be my preference on a fresh or a healthier paint coating.

I have 3 cans of the Fusso soft 99. Enough for the rest of my life. Prep the car wash clay correct. Wipe down 50/50 alcohol & water. Put Fusso on as thin as possible. Work small sections don’t let it sit to long it’s a pain if it completely dries to buff off. Wait 24 hrs when done and you can top it off with anything. The turtle wax seal & shine works great & you can stack coats on top. Fusso with 2 coats by itself easily last 8 months. With occasional toppers it will for sure last a year. Hands down the longest sealant I have ever used. It’s not a gloss enhancer so the topper you use will bring out that gloss. The topper also protects the Fusso. One thing about the Fusso keep it off your plastics. If you get it on the plastic just remove it right away. Also not recommended for your plastic headlights. Seal & Shine works well for that. No need to pay 2 grand for a wax. That’s just insane !

People used to laugh at Turtlewax and NuFinish until they saw testing.

I always had durable results out of the Ice Paste Wax on the blue Honda, great hydrophobics. Ice Spray Wax was another fantastic topper and maintenance product. Loved their Endura-Shine products before they were discontinued, their Express Shine Carnauba Cleaner Spray Wax I've also seen perform some magic on lightly oxidized paint. Turtle Wax had some great products before the Seal N Shine frenzy in my opinion, which is funny because I'm not crazy about SNS. NuFinish though I could never get along with it. I've see it be very durable in Scott H's testing, but on the Honda daily driver that paint hated NuFinish and the hydrophobics didn't last beyond a few weeks. Shows that beyond prepwork, the paint type can have a major impact in long term durability.

Ridiculous. Waxes begin to degrade/vaporize at about 105 degrees surface temperature which is about 85 degrees air temperature.
@WaxMode4 жыл бұрын
Some waxes are going to be more sensitive to heat. But I've had Glasur easily last 2.5 months on the daily driver in the Florida summer before removing it to test other products, surface temperatures in the 170°+F range.

That's a ton of Seal N Shine! The case for Vintage years ago was under $2,000 and I was close to picking that up. With as much as I've spent over the years just to try different products out I could have probably picked up a lifetime supply of Royale!

I've used a Zymol $2500 wax on a client's Range Rover. It didn't last 2 months on his Rover. There is no money to be made by using waxes anymore other doing a full correction/polishing and laying this wax on a classic garage kept Ferrari but a waste of time on a daily driver.
@goldenmanuever11762 жыл бұрын
Correct, a waste of time. No one, not Zymol or the Channel mentioned anything about this being recommended or suggested for use on a daily driver. This is a prestigious, 35-40 year old, concours level show car glaze that places traditional warmth, glow, clarity and depth over durability.

I love switching to the flood setting on the nozzle and just letting the water flood and collect all of the beading right off the paint. Looks so smooth on a crazy hydrophobic surface.

Gimmie a break with this wax. Impressive of course but the price is just stupid. Fusso is just as good.

any better wax then that

I wouldn’t go crazy expensive on the paste waxes, with Zymol here these bead water like crazy at the beginning but they will drop off quickly if you’re driving often. Better to start out with something like Zymol Carbon if it’s your first Zymol wax you’re thinking about getting. Otherwise there are a lot of other paste waxes that I like, Both Griots Best of Show and Premium Carnauba Paste Wax are great. I like Chemical Guys Pete’s 53, Meguiar’s Ultimate is also fantastic, Collinite 476S and 915 are durable options. Fusso Coat and Hi-Temp Paste Wax are durable options but I’m really looking forward to getting my hands on the newest Gyeon Wax, that one looks extremely promising.

Anybody paying $1600 for a bottle of wax needs to seek psychiatric help.

Haha! I need more psychiatric help for amassing this amount of waxes in my collection, trust me. One too many sniffs of the Collinite.

Total waste of money! After paint coatings, waxes amd sealants are obsolete.
@WaxMode4 жыл бұрын
Yeah there's no reason to spend such a high amount on a wax while expecting it to perform at an astronomically higher level. I'm a coating convert in terms of performance and durability, but not many things are more satisfying in detailing than pulling out a really nice paste wax and working everything by hand for me. Then taking a step back in the sun and seeing the depth of the gloss, magical and relaxing.
@umarc97674 жыл бұрын
@@WaxMode the only benifit that a wax can provide is the masking effect on a lightly swirled car. And only draw back of a coated car is that coating wont accept any wax or glaze. No fillers or oiliness would be able to mask those fine swirls. It would buff right off. It is sort of a draw back specially for dark colored cars, with people who dont have time for full polishing and use a good old detailing spray/spray wax once a while. Otherwise there is no advantage of the glaze/wax/sealant stuff any more. Yes some prefer the "depth" of color as opposed to the gloss of the coating. But thats a personal taste. No amount of wax may it be whatever, deserves that price tag. Its just an oily/greasey substance sticking over your car vs a chemically bonded layer. Its like charging a premium price for a fancy mineral engine oil when synthetics exist that out perform in every way! They didnt even made any effort for the pot! Looks just like any other wax pot. Disappointing for the amount!
