Glad this helped you out, they are pretty cheap to build at the Freeport and VERY customizable. Sure, you can build a better ship, but not with the resources needed for the good ole Ramshackle 😊

You can put your wheel below that front ceiling tile so you can access the sail and go back to the wheel quickly. You can now see while in 3rd person even when the wheel is enclosed.

Having tried builds like this on Sloops, I've had a lot more success with medium weight sails. Thanks to weight sail buffs, they increase your ship's weight capacity by 2500, which nearly doubles the base weight of the Sloop and allows you to focus exclusively on putting ship levels into damage / resistance instead. It also makes it easier to fit a fourth cannon to increase your firepower and allows you to stack more cannonballs, making it *much* more efficient at farming SOTD so that you can kill more quickly while not having to return to base to restock after every SOTD kill. As a bonus, you can also farm resources like metal from other islands more easily until you get your automated resource gathering structures built up. Not being able to sail into the wind as effectively is a tradeoff, but it's definitely worth it IMHO. As an aside, it's really sad how the new dev team has handled shipbuilding. :( They intend to make legacy ships completely obsolete (which they've already done), and the modulars are just horribly ugly and soulless by comparison. The magic of shipbuilding is gone, and judging by how the community has been begging to make legacy ships viable again, most players clearly aren't on board with the modular concept.

Great tip! Ive not really been a fan of weight sails in the past as I tend to value maneuverability and mostly use this sloop to got exploring and getting island XP points... but maybe I need to give it a shot for my Season 12 build... coming up in a few days! :) Thanks for the idea and I'll give it a shot! :)

Wow this is awesome, didn't know you could change ships 😅 also I free dove to the first wreck. I was smart enough to remove everything as I died in the wreck lol. Hammerhead almost ate me as well. So this is helpful. Thanks!

Yes, free diving is a good way to get some starter gold, or if you don't want to clutter up your deck with a diving platform. But you did good in stripping down first. I do most of my dives that way, but in the beginning I'd get lost in the wreck so I needed the air from the suit! LOL Also, remember to put any shoulder pets you have down before diving either with or without the platform. I've had to leave many a monkey or parrot down in Davey Jones locker over the years.

@@OldGamerzNeverDie the one I dove on was really deep. So I was hurting for air as soon as I reached the ship. I probably have alot of ship level ups...can't figure out how to level it yet 😆 your vids are entertaining and I'm a fellow old gamer. Having fun with this game.

@@timbaker2024 level your stamina and fortitude to free dive a bit longer and without the cold hurting so bad. Atlas doesn't let you put points into O2 like Ark does. There are about 4 different ships that are wrecks on the bottom, once you get used to their layout it's pretty fast to dive em, snag the loot and hope to get to the surface w/o running into a shark, electric eel, or whale

@@OldGamerzNeverDie this game is brutal 😆 I went out and got the shooms to get a bear. On the way gathered up a high level monkey, a good male female boar and a high level chicken. It was a long trip back and it went well until maybe 100 yards from base. Got hit by a spider. So pets attacked. Problem ? All happened right next to a high level elephant.. killed everyone except my 1 boar...really ? 100yards ...lol

If you sail between 5.5 and 6 knots they can't hit you but you can hit them just get a little distance and don't auto target do it manually and you will use less cannon balls and you don't need gold to recruit from sotd

Thanks! Yeah the gold thing has changed a lot over the years, you just need gold to keep them hired and their pay is less when anchored than when at sea. Both nice improvements.

Joel... It's seems maybe updates killed this kind of updating. 1. I cant find a Diving Module that will snap. 2 There is a structure # limit per platform size now. The top rear platforms for the cannons go over the limit.

Not sure what system you are playing on currently, but I built that sloop on official PvE in Season 11, and I have seen this build already in Season 12. This is certainly still a "doable" build. As for the diving platform, it will not snap until you remove the wheel, as the default location of the wheel is blocking the only two snap points for the diving platform on the sloop. (as I covered in the build steps). Modular diving rails will not snap to a legacy vessel.

You advise people to spend their points into taming, however at every level gain you get a free respec. It would be better to use one at some point and rather than using a ramshackle go ahead and make a regular sloop, at least make loads of spare parts, so that you don't have to respec often. Reason for this is , Normal sloop starting weight 3k, vs ramshackle 1400 weight, you leveled up points in your boat for weight when it could of been used for damage if you are trying to farm low level sotd or greif parked ships along the coast line. The boat you've built the players i've ran with would see it, they wouldn't fight it, they'd just ram it once or twice and watch it sink due to lack of replacement parts. Ideally none of our boats were over 30% weight, some captains wouldn't go past 25%. Weight reduction = speed. Also, if you wanted to level the boat up you could put a swivel on deck and just lead animals to it, elephants / rhinos / bears etc. all good exp to get to level 10-15 quick.

Great advice all around, and I appreciate it! The vid here was more of a "what you can do with your starter ship" to move up, and mainly aimed at PvE , as this boat would not survive in a PvP environment. Thanks for the info and good advice especially for those on PvP servers.

Not sure that there are many full overhauls of Atlas like AoC for Conan, but Indecent Queens runs a heavily modded set of servers (currently 7X7 grid) with all the golden age islands, maw, Kraken, etc that you can check out. Check em out at indecentqueens.com/atlas

one question i have.... i have seen on a vid, that somebody had the speed in the middle upper screen in yellow. that is very helpfull. is that a mod ?

@@trimax4308 The Shipwright mod does that with the ships wheel installed (along with showing direction) You can also get the speed to show when you hit the mini game with the sextant. Its possible that since the other mod that I referenced you to adds the sextant as and "always on" feature, that once you attain that skill level, it may be there for you.

I've had Atlas sitting in my steam library gathering dust for years, this is making me wanna play it again. Is it possible to run a galleon by yourself with NPC crew or is that far too much micromanagement?

You can, and, in my opinion, crew management is much easier. In the "old days" you had to carry a ton of gold to pay them constantly, as well as unseating them when at port to save on crew cost (since the typically cost about 3X more when manning a cannon and such). Right now its 1gp per about 22 hrs, and you can make it longer by putting points into beds. It also doesnt matter what they are doing.. same cost. Biggest issue is getting the mats for a solo galleon.. Ive done it in the early days... havent really wanted to do that this season. Its still a glitchy game to be sure, but if you decide to play on the PvE server, stop by my discord and let me know... happy to help get you on your way!
