i have been taming wrong this whole time. lol. i have failed at taming bears and everything. Just getting back into atlas and the taming house, the swarm house and the bait station are all new to me so, till just now, i didn't know what to do with them. fantastic info thanks for this OG!

Thx for the guide. You can split a stack just by holding the shift key and drag with the left mouse button (just like in ARK), don't need to right click and split.

Avoid getting hit while feeding by approaching the left armpit from behind the animal also I use only two billboards at 90’ angle so they get caught on it trying to get to me. If they go to the other side (not usually) I just run under the billboard to the other side. After I get a bear I just use the bear to attack and then bola them while I’m riding the bear. Horses can get caught between the bear and a rock or tree and it will hold them there while you tame.

Yep.. thats the way I used to do it.. but with the bait trap.. its soooo much easier. Just need a source for toxic flora and the animals favorite food and its just like tranq-ing dinos in ark without needing a trap :) I still use my bear and bolas if Im out and see something when I dont have that special food, but for the most part, I use the bait station now. Even works on Yeti's! :) Cant place em on Golden Isles in Season 11, will have to give it a try when Season 12 starts tomorrow!

I've been trying to get into playing Atlas again and I tried the server you recommended, Indecent Queens, but I've had so much trouble being able to load in because of all the mods I guess? Not sure. The people seem really nice on the rare occasion I actually get in and can play. 😢

They are good folks, and trying to keep a modded server running is a beast considering most of Grapeshot's "fixes" end up breaking mods. Another option is Radioactive servers, which may load faster. Not sure if you are running off an SSD , usually helps speed up the process, but yeah, 25+ mods take a bit of restarts to get loaded 🙂

Taming bears is easiest from the back of another bear. Once you have one, you're golden. Sit on it's back run upto any bear, go to first person to check it's level, if below lvl 25 keep biting till it's dead, if it's above 25, keep biting till you can bola him. He'll bite back but only dmg the bear not you. Once bola-ed run a little away, jump off and start feeding honey. This way your killing the low level ones, so higher level bears can spawn, and your getting lots of hide and meet to boot. Because the bears are so easy to feed (stand in it's armpit) this works fine. Wanna giraffe or elephant? Use the barrel! But to each their own.

Yep, bear is a great way to tame most anything, little dicey with lions since they can knock you off, but until you can get around to snag favorite foods, a bear is an awesome mobile trapping station.

How do you find high level creatures to tame (on single player), and what level is the highest you can find to tame? Do animals get higher level as you get closer to F column?

I believe on single player, the highest level of wild animal you will find is level 150. To get that you will have to go into your game settings and set Difficulty Offset to 1, and tick the Maximum Difficulty box toward the bottom of the list. Like Ark, Atlas is hard coded to a max wild of 150 unless you are using mods, no matter how high you set the difficulty offset in those settings.. you will still get a max wild or 150. There WILL be higher level wilds in dungeons and/or Golden Isles, but they arent tamable without mods.

Anything that you can set the bait station down. I couldn't place it on a Golden Isle on official last season, and I don't believe you can place it under water, but worked everywhere else. Made Yeti taming a breeze. You just need the animals favorite food and the toxic flora.

Makes taming soooo easy, especially on animals with a huge AOE like bears, tigers and giraffes. Just need to make sure to have enough food and toxic flora in there to last thru the whole tame. Good luck to ya!

You have to be able to place the barrel, which on a Golden Isle would be an issue.. since most places are a no build zone. If you can place it, you will need to have a variety of foods with you to feed the Razortooth, as it will asks for a different food each time it eats, like a Moschops does in Ark. The food table it will select from is Cooked Prime Fish Meat, Cooked Prime Meat, Jac's Beef Buns, Lucy's Fish n Chips, Alex's Rosemary Chicken, Pork Pie and Steven's Stuffed & Baked Fish. You would need to have all seven kinds of food in your bait station, because it will randomly select a food from the seven foods listed above each time you are required to feed it. *Note it will not change its required food until it has been fed the current food it wants.

I’m also posted a note for viewers on your video here, just letting them know before they click it that you show the proper way of taming. Also the venom makes them bleed for 5% their max health after. They finish if they eat again it still does same amount of bleed and the toxic sludge or whatever it is called slows animals. Increasing dosage does same the effect lasts longer and for venom I believe does more damage

I have another video on finding resources, but the short answer is to go to this website and look up the resource maps for the type of game you are playing (PvE, PvP, Solo, Console) and look for Army of the Damned resources. Some are in "transient nodes" meaning they phase in and out of different locations on the island where they are found. You'll need farming buildings like Gravedigger to actually farm the cursed wood and bone fragments. There will be shrines on some islands where you can use those resources to build the cursed temple. Its a slog to be sure. Resource locator website is atlas.antihax.net/ And dont worry its a legit site.. regardless of the name. Ive used it often and it gets updated with each "season" of Atlas.

The bait station, once armed and opened works for an area of a few meters. I have actually captured two bears at once at the same time. I usually carry two stacks of honey when bear hunting just so I have plenty for any scenario. The toxic flora burns slowly, only goes thru one or two per animal, think of it like wood in a fire. You can get it by picking mushrooms by hand on swamp islands, but easiest way is to us a swarm house where you find Ants. It will vacuum them up and they will start passively making the flora in the swarm house for you to collect, just like bees do with honey in it.

Thank you for this video. I have a follow up question. My friend and I rolled on Indecent Queens after seeing your advertisement for them. It's a little overwhelming with all of the mods because I am completely new to the game and he is returning after a few years, so even the base game is new. So, I noticed today that I can't craft swarmhouse on Indecent Queens to get the easy honey and toxic flora and I am not sure why. It shows in the smithy but there are no listed materials for the craft and it's greyed out. Do you know if it's disabled on that server or replaced by something else in one of the mods? Is it back to the old ways of trapping on IQ? Thanks!

Great question, and, unfortunately you are running into something that is plaguing all Atlas players over the last week. On Feb 1, Grapeshot introduced an update that was supposed to fix issues with Xbox console bugs, and create a few test servers on PvP. The update basically broke the game, creating lag issues across all official maps. It did not get a patch until about 5 days later, which they also pushed out to all unofficial servers. This issue was a bug they introduced in swarm houses and taming pens, not sure what they broke, but it lagged out all the servers so that the game was unplayable. In typical Grapeshot style (your friend who played before may remember their "do nothing, or turn off everything" approach) they basically turned off the swarm houses and mating in the tame houses, and called it done. On official my swarm houses that I have down still work, and I have been able to place more, but on unofficial, I would think most server owners have them disabled until Grapeshot can get their act together and fix the game issue. Jade or Mae typically post in the discord under #atlas updates or #atlas announcements when they are temporarily disabling a feature and when they expect to turn it back on. Check there, and also you can ask in either Global Game Chat or in the Atlas channel what the prognosis might be. A lot of the time Cereal can find a work around from the Grapeshot screw ups, but sometimes its just too deep in the code.

Easiest way to get toxic flora is to build a swarm house, and trap ants in it. They will passively generate toxic flora as long as you are in the general area. If you carry a swarm house with you, you can drop it where ever you find ants, they will get sucked into it when they get close enough.. and insta tame. Then you can pull em out and have them follow you to your base or ship to take back to base, then load them in a swarm house there.

The easiest way to get toxic flora is to find ants. Place a swarm house where the ants are, and that will vacuum up the ants into it and insta tame them. If it's near your base, you're done. The ants will passively produce toxic flora in the swarm house over time, as long as you are near it. If it's not near your base, you can unload them from the house, whistle for them to follow you and SLOWLY lead them back to your base and load them into a swarm house there. You can also get them to your ship and carry them back to your base (if they are on another island). Toxic flora does grow naturally on swampy islands. looks like red mushrooms and has to be hand harvested by the player (can't get it with a socket or a tame).

I have a card that links to my "how to get honey and oil" vid where I show it, but you have a great point. There are actually two ways to get toxic flora, the easiest is to use a swarm house to vacuum up ants. Once the ants are in the swarm house, they will begin to passively generate toxic flora just like the bees passively generate honey in the same swarm house. The second way is to find an island where mushrooms are growing (usually a swamp area) They have to be harvested by hand, sickle wont work on them. When you harvest them by hand you will get toxic flora.

@@khanhkhanh7802 I'm not sure which version you are playing, solo, official PvE or pvp, or on a dedicated server. I can tell you that on official PvE this time around, ants have been harder to find. Best thing to do if you have ants on your island, is to put up swarm houses where you find them. Get them to aggro on you and walk to the trap and it will automatically suck them up. If you can't find ants check out this site atlas.antihax.net/ and you can hover over each island to see what resources it has

It does, but you have to use Marrow, not prime meat, in the bait station. You can feed it Prime Meat while its sleeping, and you will want to have enough Marrow in the bait inventory to make sure it doesnt eat it all before its tamed (higher levels will require more bait, especially if you set the bait food at 6, which will give you the longest sleep time) Make sure you also have enough toxic flora in the "fuel" side too... it doesnt get consumed very fast, but if it runs out, the tiger will wake up.. and it will not be happy.

I tried it using poison but the bear would not go down and only lost a few hit points....was level 4. By the time the cool down period was over and the bear ran back to the bait barrel, it was fully healed again

Yeah, the poison doesn't really help much, neither does the toxic sludge. You need to get the toxic flora and put them to sleep so you just feed them. That way you don't need bolas or have to hurt them , just put their food in your last slot and feed each time they get hungry. You do need to have enough of their favorite food in the bait station to keep them asleep (and enough toxic flora) leave that going the whole time so that the keep eating it and don't wake up while you're taming them

@@fu6817 yeah there's an island that looks like a giant swamp that usually has em. You have to hand pick them, sickle won't harvest them. Still easier to find ants and tame them in a swarm house, even if you have to transport them back to your base

iv got over 7.000 hrs in atlas mainly on rp and privet servers with about 1.000 hrs on officials and i highly doubt il reach 7.500 i loved this game it has soo much potential to be amazing but the devs just have no idea wat there doing.. there making the game super easy it once was a game that needed all kinds of people skilled in almost every aspect it took skill.. ghost ship started of as a cool server boss for everyone to fight and u could loose mythical ships to it even with a good captn and real crew. then they nerfed the crap out of it and now it has less health than a green sotd brig lol u can literally 1 shot it solo.. then they added module ships total waste of time there trash.. then the tame house and barn basically making good breeders useless.. then the toxic barrel basically makes taming easy mode literally pointless and now removing creatures from inside powerstone caves lol like seriously are they trying to make a sea of thieves game.. they need to stop adding the crap they are and fix the bugs thats been in the game the last 5yrs

There's no doubt that this is not the game I bought when it was released. I can say the same thing about the other games I play, like Ark and Conan. From the beginning, Atlas has been heavily slanted toward large companies, with solo players picking up the scraps. What I can say with the state of the game today is a game that is much more focused on everyone being able to play and get something from it. But large groups still have the upper hand, as an example by the end of day 1 there was no place on most islands to place either a warehouse or gathering stations. So yeah, everyone gets to play now, taming is easy, modular ships are unimaginative and suck, and breeding is now easier for the little guy (yeah, I was there when it took hours to tame an elephant and real time days to breed them). But look at the unofficial servers, most of them have mods to make things easier because people got tired of the grind or having to join a mega to play most of the content. I still play because I enjoy it, but like you, I'm always waiting for the next show to drop. The game IS more playable this season than it was last season, but that doesn't mean season 13 will necessarily be better. I guess what it boils down to is that the hours I've spent on it have more that justified the purchase price, unlike games like Cyberpunk that cost double the money and I gave up on after about 5 hrs in. If, and I do mean IF, they ever get the game out of early access, who knows what the final product will look like, but I can bet it won't be what it was when it launched.

​@@OldGamerzNeverDie yer fr sure m8 lol.. iv defo got my monies worth but its jus sad to see the direction the games going in at the min.. i usually play on heavy modded servers that almost completely change the game but most of the basic game functions are still there my fav servers are usually darksiderp or supreme atlas both very different games but still atlas lol.. im usually in 1 of the biggest Pirate factions. problem with officials is there isnt enough restrictions or silly game mechanics that make smaller companies or solos suffer for example the enemy build radius around fence foundations billboards and farm buildings etc.. almost impossible to find anywhere to build as a new player because of thoes reasons.. u set up jus to find some sneaky has built a few farm buildings round ur new base and cant setup ur own farm buildings or stuff like that more than likely ownd islands will have fence foundations spamed round the island so you cant even get a place to setup.. if grapeshot ever get the voip system working again and they pay there bill if ur up for it u could join me on darkside :) type darksiderp into youtube to see wat im talking about if ur interested

Never used a ramp trap? LOL... first one I ever learned to us from watching Phlinger Phoo Soloing the Ark vids back in the day... but honestly the pillar trap I have in my Trike Trap vid was easier to make and maintain... and .. of course with raptors... its easier to just bola them and knock em out :)
