I remember one of the first times I heard this was during a school trip and we were driving through the wooded countryside and blabbering away like school kids do, then this came on the radio and everyone just fell silent for those few minutes. Afterwards there was a sort of collective sigh and someone said "ahh that was nice" then we all went back to chatting away like normal. It was just such a lovely little peaceful bubble in time within what was otherwise such a ruckus that for some reason is etched into my memory.

This makes me wanna live life, take lots of photos and sceneries of this beautiful earth. I want a girl who can understand all of this. I want to cry. Edit 9/21: Still love this song. A dear friend who's no longer with us showed me this song back in high school. It's taken a very special place in my life now, I don't listen to it often but when I do, it instantly floods me with memories. On a kind of "'meta" side-note, what's also nostalgic about this upload is looking at the number of video plays and knowing that some of those plays are from her and I from years ago!

`eh that's just a lovely tune ... Lyrics: "Atlas Hands" Take me to the docks, there's a ship without a name there And it is sailing to the middle of the sea The water there is deeper than anything you've ever seen Jump right in and swim until you're free I will remember your face 'Cause I am still in love with that place But when the stars are the only things we share Will you be there? Money came like rain to your hands while you were waiting For that cold long promise to appear People in the churches started singing above their hands They say, "My God is a good God and He cares" I will remember your face 'Cause I am still in love with that place When the stars are the only things we share Will you be there? I've got a plan, I've got an atlas in my hands I'm gonna turn when I listen to the lessons I've learned I've got a plan, I've got an atlas in my hands I'm gonna turn when I listen to the lessons I've learned

@@maryam8538 That sounds great & all, but life isn't a movie. Not everyone gets a happy ending to their story. Some people are cursed & get shit on their entire lives. I haven't given up & I've made tons of positive changes over the last few years... yet I'm feeling more miserable & jaded than ever. The whole positivity thing is a B.S. form of confirmation bias...nobody cares(or remembers) the people who did everything right & still had a shitty miserable existence.
@ktx493 жыл бұрын
@@maryam8538 I genuinely appreciate the time/energy & thought you've put into your comments. And heck, these are all things I'd tell a friend(if I had any) or family member in distress...however, I've obviously heard all this before & the unfortunate *reality* is that none of it is true. I don't have value, god def doesn't love me, there is no bigger plan, and everything isn't going to be OK. I suffer everyday physically, mentally, & emotionally by myself. People that are normal enough just can't understand or fathom there are people as worthless as me. I'd have already ended it all...except that I believe suicide is a selfish, narcissistic, & cowardly act. With total respect towards you, I just know you cannot understand people like me. Sorry for the negativity but this is the reality I actually live in. 😔

This song... this video... this work of art. It's hard to describe the emotions this wonderful piece of art wells up within me. But then that's what good art does. Leaves us with as many questions as answers, as much joy as sorrow, as much yearning as contentment. I experience all this.... every... single... time I watch this. The ending in which we see he does not go with the rest of the family - and those eyes staring full back at him, still on the shore... just gets me every time. Does anyone know who filmed this, who the people are in the video, who came up with the concept (I'm guessing BFL, but was it alone or in collaboration)?
