Could you expand on why you don't like using flywheels with modern motors?

Good question - in 2019 I was invited to an ops session that used train brakes on the DCC throttles and it turned out to be really fun. To implement train braking, the momentum must be set pretty high on each locomotive. With the motors I use there is a lot more range in the slower speeds so setting momentum is super accurate - unless a flywheel is present which wipes out the advantage. So I started taking them out during rebuilds. One of these days I'll have a side by side comparison...
