'Atlas Shrugged' the TWILIGHT of it's day.

Atlas Shrugged is such a terrible book, and its philosophy could EASILY be torn apart and is completely not feasible. So, there's no reason the film could've been good.

People, stop being upset with them because they didn't like the movie. Virtually no one did. And here's the thing; the fact that they hardly understand Rand isn't their fault, it's the films. In a film like this, it damn well better tanslate what Rand wanted and help explain Objectivism, or at least why its attractive. The film did neither and was instead a lazy, half-assed, tossed-together piece of crap that insults fans and non-fans alike.

It's bad when a videogame, featuring a villain inspired by the philosophies of a book (in this case Bioshock), is a better adaptation than the official adaptation itself. That's outside the fact that the movie was awful and Bioshock was brilliant.

except bioshock reveals what utter shit Randian philosophy is.
@jonathankozenko8 жыл бұрын
Kind of exactly why it's a better adaptation. It shows both the structure in action AND the long-term consequences.

It is important not to confuse an _interpretation_ and inclusion of some author's philosophy into a form of art, such as videogames, from what would be an actual adaptation. It's still amazing though, how so many say bad things about Rand without managing to actually say anything close to real criticism. Just like Biochock's usage of the philosophy in the story is basically non existent, as they limit themselves to incredibly superficial things. The game's writers wanted to hate on the author of those books, but funny enough, people took great interest on the books. The movie is just as bad as the interpretation of the game writers.

It breaks my heart that they didn't review the 2nd or 3rd films. C'mon, the 3rd one got 0% on Rotten Tomatoes, That's lower than Disaster Movie's 2%

Actually, on an episode of the LEOG, Leon brings up their lost review for Part II between him & Co-host. According to him, the mac software used for recording had the nasty habit of glitching every time there was an update: if multiple mics were involved, for instance, one person would either cut in and out or it would sound like the person was speaking from across the room. In this case, their audio came out sounding as if the mic volume was super low: it was so bad that even if the volume was turned up 200% in post, you couldn't hear what they were saying.

1tonyvalle They couldn't have done a new recording of it? They did it for First Sunday (1 without Edie and 1 With)
@1tonyvalle9 жыл бұрын
Justin An Unfortunately, no. They were in a period where they were too busy recording other things to revisit the review; however, when asked about it on the LEOG, Leon & Co-host basically summarized their thoughts on it.

Okay honestly what was this movie supposed to be? Was it supposed to be like the Game of Thrones of business or something?

@Everwen45 Listen again, it's Cyrus. Leon said he regretted never reading it, but had no opinion on it.

I love how Cyrus is slamming a book he's never read. I'm almost tempted to defend it, but I've never read it either.

The movie is really bad but the spill crew obviously doesn't understand this type of philosophy. It kind of shows there ignorance in anything aside from film making.
