Atlas should come up with a small 10x10 super economical kit for the masses, you could save so many lives. Maybe even a basement kit. Issue with most bunker manufactures is you have to own land to even consider one. Expand your market with a small shelters that could be under a back yard patio in a sub division etc. To get people who live in the subs through that first two weeks. Doesn't need to be lived in for a long period but would save their lives.

Ron, super refreshing to see you're running with ideas like this, just watched you on Canadian Prepper. Super excited to see how that goes for you, market to the tornado shelter market as the "ultimate tornado shelter" that is versatile for more than just tornados. People in the midwest are putting those tornado shelters in their garage floors like crazy, I could totally see people jumping one step up for something like this. If they are already going to spend the money on that it wouldn't be a hard transition to get them to the actual bunker.

I want you to know that I worked in the wastewater industry for many years and your carbon filters are “almost” as large as some of the carbon filters we had at a number of our wastewater pumping, or lift stations. We needed huge blowers to remove the deadly gases that would build up inside these structures. And of course, that contaminated air was incredibly foul smelling. So all the air would be pulled into the wet side of the station, along with the sewage, and the foul sewage air would be cleaned before it was blown out through the duct system. Impressive filters!

Love the shelters. Absolutely amazing work and that's coming from a Welding Instructor! You could of probably gotten away with less steel thickness but overkill is wonderful. The gas tight doors were a huge improvement over the last few years. I'd love to add some improvement ideas but you really cover it all great that I can think of. I would highly recommend these over rising shit shelters.

You should make a model with an intel room or office. That way, someone could install a CB Radio and other communications devices. How else would you know it's safe to leave the bunker during an event? It would be pretty easy to add a retractable antenna or a remote control door to expose the external electronics when in use. Just an idea. I think it would be helpful. It could also offer a private space to relax away from others in the shelter with you in an event.

I have a question, what is the use of bullet proof doors when someone can just clog the air intake ? It looks like it would be easy to stuff the air intake with mud or something to block it. Have you considered making a system where the air intake can be retracted for protection ? As well as emergancy air supply.
@TheWorldsOkayestUSMarine
@TheWorldsOkayestUSMarine 2 жыл бұрын
I would reccomend recessing the intake in a pit, covered by a grate with false foliage or breathable turf.
@leroyj9044
@leroyj9044 2 жыл бұрын
Its common practice for air intakes to be disguised or hidden to make them less likely to be clogged by problematic individuals. When installed under houses one could easily run the pipes up through a wall, out the roof and make it look like a typical home exhaust or vent. Though given how it is designed, it would be relatively easy to T or Y the intake/exhaust pipes to have multiple inlet/outlet locations. An engineered solution might be the ability to temporarily block off the filtration and pressurize the inlet/outlet pipes to blow out any obstructions. Given how the exhaust valve is opened with pressure inside the bunker, pressurizing the exhaust pipes would automatically seal, and you could get away with not sealing the intake pipe but you'd want a valve in case the pressure required to clear the intake pipe is greater than the pressure required to push air through the NBC filter. This could potentially be an option that Atlas could theoretically develop and offer in bunkers with generator pods, or otherwise... As for emergency air supply, building an emergency air reserve for such a large volume would be IMO somewhat difficult. One could look into using systems similar to firefighters or submarines. With a larger bunker one could supplement their air supply with hydroponics or aquaponics.

QUESTIONS: How long does it take from order to shipping for the 14x50 BIG BOY? How deep can you dig to install the bunkers? How many bunkers can you connect together? How long can you live in a bunker, before the air and water filters stop working? How long will the Solar Power thing work in a nuclear event? @@jnkoa33 knowledge is a tool, even if you think it's dumb it would be unproductive to just shut everyone down. I'm not in the bunker business but having a bunker underwater would be awesome. I understand Ron is a busy man and I don't expect him to take the time to hear me out but perhaps I have an idea that he can change and make his bunkers better then they already are. Water is a great insulator for radiation. They use water for that function at nuclear power plants. It would be very hard to break into the bunk if it were under water, can't even shoot it. Make the filtration system keep a positive pressure in the bunker. Have the entrance under water. Swim down to it a couple feet then up inside. Put a camera in there. If you see and intruder, flood it. When the coast is clear pump it back full of air. The swim down would help wash off any radiation on your body. Run the air lines to the shore. Hide them in a fake dead tree. People wouldn't even be looking underwater for a bunker.

@@geort45 - Because if things get so crazy that we NEED a bunker.... 😳 You're going to need one that doesn't have black mold, a gas leak, circulates the air properly.
