#20 wide is my favourite. The space is fantastic. Don’t want to feel like you are living in a dorm room. Important features storage space, washer and dryer, tall ceilings, and decorations. They need to get ride of the black and white circular tile decorations. #27 under 399 sq feet was absolutely beautifully decorated. The fireplace on the deck was a dream design. If you are looking for design ideas I would suggest Innerscene’s virtual sun or sky skylight for the bunkers. They have a virtual sun and sky that looks real and the sun can move across the sky mimicking a real sun to create a circadian rhythm.

BOTH OF YOU… THANKS A MILLION!!!!! I’ve been dying to get to that lot to look at their homes. And you just gave a wonderful no nonsense tour! Thank you thank you thank you. I’ve been following tiny homes for about 24 years! Pricing skyrocketed wi the last 5yrs or so. We need to bring affordability back!! I will look at your videos and learn about what you do. Have you ever been in a IKEA? Ever the fake windows in their setups? Big flat lights that evenly distribute the light, and maybe shear curtains covering them allowing light to pass, but to keep up the illusion that it’s a fake window? How cool would it be to do a tiny home design and incorporate fake windows to make it feel like less of a shelter? You could even take away some of that underfloor storage and relegate it to the back and have to floor go up where the bedroom and bathroom is to put the utilities. Maybe even think of 5th wheel RV designs where the ceiling is tall in the living room, then the floor goes “up” to allow for the goose neck. You may also be able to incorporate a loft like they do instead.

I really enjoyed this - I also think it's great for a business owner to demonstrate how they're trying to innovate through inspiration. It's an example of how you're focused on improving. I get the most value out of videos like this and the philosophy videos of why you do one thing versus another. Cabin 5 (the last one, the least expensive one) was probably the most relevant to bunker design. I really appreciated how it had different clear "zones", and how there was a closet tucked away behind the kitchen. You really don't need a wide kitchen usually. I think you should also check out high-end RVs.

Is it possible to take one of these complete cabins, windows, decks, and all, and fully enclose it inside one of your shelters, with its interior, in turn painted a nice sky blue or with a woodland mural, possibly with some sort of LED lighting effect to simulate daylight? It would be amazing to have an underground bunker with the look and feel of an aboveground cabin in the woods!

I like the idea of making a second floor so you can have a taller sitting area and at the same time, gain some space for children to play, or just to store more stuff. In exchange for digging the hole a little deeper, you gain almost double the floor space and you don't have to build more foundation. I'd love to see how much more it would cost just to add some height and another floor. Hope you're doing well btw!

@Atlas Survival Shelters, What I would like as a retired chef is an amazing kitchen and freezer off solar. Sometimes it’s nice not to have to eat crap out of a can or bag. You can do a pretty decent indoor garden in less than 20 Sq ft. with led lighting running off solar too. I would do hydroponics as I have been growing hydroponically for the last 20 years. Only issue I could see though would be the extra demand on water. We have off grid earthships here in New Mexico and they have a rain water collection system than can collect and store water for up to a year. Just because it’s a bunker doesn’t mean you will be using it during a nuclear winter. Passive water collection would be a bonus. I’m just dreaming though and probably could never afford one. Good stuff as always Ron!

That's a good idea, I probably won't ever get one either but thinking of designs is always entertaining. I don't want to even think what the shipping costs would be to get a bunker where I am (hint: Texas is a little too hot and small for me). One thing I've not seen anyone do, which confuses me, is bury some fuel, water, and waste tanks along side the bunker and plumb them in. Just for $ and storage issues, I'd leave the fuel and water tanks empty until things go worse then they are now, but that would give you quite a bit extra surge capacity if it came down to it. Also, thanks for mentioning the hydroponics, I'm checking out your videos on that next, been wanting to start some in my new place.

You should look into aquaponics if you are already doing hydroponics. Done properly there isn't a 'fishy' smell and could provide extra protein in a survival situation. The fish are mainly to provide the needed nutrients for the plants and the plant scraps can feed the fish if you use tilapia.

I love #22 - the pinkish one. I love the side entry with wrap-around porch because the lack of a front door gives you more room on porch for furniture, etc. I love the large porch because you could screen it in and put a door on the side... inside i love the kitchen in the front, the large livingroom area with high ceilings and the big bedroom with high ceilings too. Plus the price is good..

OK RON, i prefer the second to lat home . the 17x64 foot model. its the newton xl 952 sq ft one. i went to the website and looked at the printable floor plans as you toured them. im a 65 year old man married to 35 year old steffy (so ill be using the bedroom for more than "sleeping" (wink, wink). what i would do is put 2 bunkers side by side and and cut out the sections for the living room and dinning room. do it on the drawing board first so you know where to add reinforcing. make them in 2 pieces to set close to the hole, bolt them together and weld em up, then add the outside coating and move them to the hole. i purchased 2 53 foot refer trailers (already insulated (for $4,000 each delivered) . i added 15 inch tall trusses lengthwise down the floor.(a 5 gallon bucket will just fit) then cut the plywood into panels so i can lift a panel to access what ever bucket i desire. in one trailer i had a 15 inch wide (deep) shelving unit from side to side to store boxes of medical supplies, and same in the other trailer except to hold #10 cans.then 27 inch wide wooden shelving units down both sides on 1 of the trailers. just 2 trailers are 16x53 which is just 1 foot narrower and 13 foot shorter than that mobile home in your video. i hope to one day get a back hoe and did a deep enough hole to pour a slab, park the trailers on the slab (55 gallon barrels will fit nicely under a semi trailer) place a form against the trailers and pour a 2 foot thick concrete wall all around the trailers. but have at least 10 trailers wide. between every 2 trailers put columns made of concrete filled hollow blocks and eventually pour 2 foot of concrete over the top and then at least 4 foot of dirt on top of that and then plant an orchard in the dirt! just a dream for the future. currently the 2 trailers are parked in a concrete SILAGE PIT ON AN OLD FARM.

I had an idea for the bunkers: if you add a little hump to the top or the top of the side wall to the bunkers, you can fit a parabolic mirror and a high CRI lamp pointing at it to collimate the light. add to that a slowly pivoting mount, you can have artificial sunlight

I have watched some of your videos on the bunkers that you do an I really like that you make them feel like a home on the inside! You talk about price, When I moved to Central Texas in 2004, I built a custom 3br/2ba house with an oversized garage w/small workshop on 1/4 acre with an 8' privacy fence for $83,800. Wasn't in the middle of nowhere, either. I was 5 minutes from work at Ft. Hood. Now that I just retired, I'm looking at something like this, and I'll probably put a bunker under it. Have to decide where.

It’s # 17 for me and I’d add an addition in the master with a door where that window is for a closet/dressing room about the same size as the front porch. I see there’s already a pantry, so I’d find a stand up freezer that would fit beside a stackable washet/dryer in the hall. Definately no built in entertainment center. Maybe move the front door over if that would allow me an apartment sized L shaped couch without sacrificing the bar. 🤔 Maybe make it look like 3 French doors with 2 actually stationary.

It's an overinflated market, no doubt! Another major cost that is often overlooked is the value of the property the house is built on. When I was young, growing up during the 80s, it was not normal for property values to be equal or more than the value of the home built upon it. Nowadays everything has changed. That's also a large contributor to rise of housing prices.

One of the big reasons these are so expensive is bc of the materials they’re using. Most companies don’t use the big thick sheet rock, metal roof, trex decking, & the concrete siding. When they deliver those I don’t see how a lot of that doesn’t get cracked or weakened from the structure moving & buckling.

What I've seen, they may be tiny homes, but they still have a big price. But these one seem quite reasonable. I'd love to put one of these over one of your bunkers!

They should make the top floor higher so you could at least stand up so that could be a master bedroom up on top❤

I want a big bunker style house underground with just a tiny shed or garage on top with a hidden entrance that would be amazing

You know what would really spruce up a bunker? Windows. It sounds crazy but I bet you could frame in and set up cheap (or expensive I guess) tvs like windows and do some cool stuff. Like replicate the weather and seasons, live display off of cameras above ground etc.

I do enjoy these tours, liked the back half of #6 but not the front. I still want a loft you can walk in. Have you ever seen one with a screened in porch?

They are nice, little pricey but I think if I was starting out today I’d buy one for 100 or less and then add a small bunker that you make underneath it as a basement/shelter, and have it hidden and not tell many people about it. Great stuff but I got a manufactured home on block foundation with attached 2 car garage. Love my land and house was a great deal wish I had a basement or could add a bunker under it, I just want a small One for some food/water storage and gun/ammo storage, with the foldout cots you offer. Once I get things paid off I’d like to look into what options I could have done with house already built.

Like the blue house kitchen on the end. Hard to find that anymore.

One of the thing that makes these places feel like home that you cannot do with an underground bunker is the light you get from windows. HOWEVER, I saw a good idea on how to simulate that from a different video where they made windows out of flat screen TVs with cameras topside so it looks like you are looking out of a window to the outside when you are just looking at a picture on a TV screen.
