I agree with what you said about room treatments. Couldn't believe the difference. To perhaps voice how I would describe it, I would agree that it makes the listening environment feel more "cozy." The dialog is so much clearer and discernable. There's much better channel separation. The surrounds are localized, so instead of getting a cacophony of sounds, you can discern that something coming out of the rear left channel for instance, actually sounds like it's coming from back and to the left of your listening position. I would absolutely urge anyone that's interested in improving their audio, treat your room first, work on your equipment second. There's plenty of great companies out there, plus companies like GIK offer completely customizable art panels if you're not interested in the utilitarian modern look. Also, yeah. Paint the room a flat dark and non reflective color.

Seems like you got the "I have money" purchases stuff right, well because you have the money to do so (room treatment, amps, processor, screen, projector, and an actual dedicated room). All pretty easy when you have the money and space to do so. If you did the installs yourself well great job because it does look very clean

Nice vid… however I’m curious when you said you can hear a difference between an AVR processing the audio verses a dedicated processor but said you just went the processor route and stated it sounded better… how did you test this since you went pure processor with separates from the beginning?
@GeorgeTheaterAtHome
@GeorgeTheaterAtHome 18 күн бұрын
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! That’s a great question. I’ve listened to other theaters that use AVR’s. I’ve also owned AVRs in the past, just not in this room. I guess to do a true A/B comparison, I should hook up an AVR in my theater and test it against my processor. Hmm, that may make for an interesting video…🤔

I really enjoy your videos and I make it a habit not to give any "helpful" feedback (unless asked) about anyone's HT efforts - whatever you enjoy is great! But my OCD is getting to me... In my media room I have one GIK acoustic panel on my left (brick) wall, there is no right wall, at the first reflection point for my left tower. With my lights off, my room is very dark and the TV picture "floats" as there is nothing else visible. But the freaking GIK white name plate they put on every piece was annoying the hell out of me. So I took some electrical tape and just covered it up - it's not visible unless you put your nose up to the panel. I just had to mention it. Continue with the great content, lots of fun comparing your journey to me own.

I love this story! I also have weird little quirks about things like that. Fortunately I haven’t been bothered by the white name plate. However, now that you’ve planted the idea in my mind…😆 I may have to employ your electrical tape tactic. Glad you enjoy the videos and thanks for watching!

@@GeorgeTheaterAtHome yeah I’ve seen that one I’m looking at a more entry level to Atmos as many new people join us in our quest to build our ultimate home theater setup 7.1 receivers are fairly cheap avrs that support Atmos and if they already have an older 5.1 setup would it be more beneficial for them to pickup rear surrounds or center heights I’ve heard other surround sound channels talk about it but no one does actual comparisons like you do and I think it would be a great test

Hi, How is the Crown XLS 1002? I'm thinking of going full out separate and looked at those. How do you use them and how have you configured it? I have read that it is not the best fit with having Gain nobs. What are your thoughts?
@GeorgeTheaterAtHome
@GeorgeTheaterAtHome 11 күн бұрын
I like the crowns. There is a slight speaker hiss from them, but I have to put my right up in the speaker to hear it so it isn’t a big deal. The gain knobs are fine, I set them to about 75%. If you are concerned about fan noise, get a Crown without a loud fan. My equipment is in a closet so I don’t hear them. Good luck!

@@GeorgeTheaterAtHome instead of. I’m building my cinema room now, and a big cost would be plastering the walls, and ceiling, leaving a hard surface, so the guys I’m getting my kit from have recommended a velveteen type stretch fabric with a 10mm or so foam back direct in the plasterboard. Would mean no actual acoustic panels dotted around, well, that’s the plan!! Room is 6m x3.5m, screen should be a 130” diagonal.

Having a closet would be nice. Unfortunately the room I could convert to that is actually the laundry room. So I have to make do with equipment on the front stage. I'm thinking of going with two short/narrow component stands and have them flank my center channel
