YAY thats meeee :D its Cee Ess O :) Thanks for posting. To be honest, all that talk about rear heights started to confuse me. Keep In mind, I was in the gym on the stair machine while I tried to comment more while listening to you guys. Even tho my speakers are slightly forward of me since I did not want the speaker reflecting from the rear walls, I have them set as top middle and did not have a single scene where I felt the sound wasn't correct. I believe the speakers are 2ft in front of me. They are like in a 25-degree angle.

I am on a back wall in a small room. 5.1.2 setup. Two rears flanking me on the wall facing me. My two in ceiling speakers are in front of me facing towards me and I assigned them top middle. Maybe I should re assign them to top front because they are ahead of me but seems to work pretty good. They are basically cemented into the ceiling so there is no moving them now.

How much forward of you? I would leave them as top middle! Mines are slightly forward too because I did not want them too close to the rear wall. They are 2 ft in front of me and around 3-4ft from the wall

@ mine are a little more forward. I set them up originally as top front with 45 degrees forward but didn’t really like the effects. So changed to top middle.

@mustangfred2006 i see. Thats more of a top front angle. Mine is at 25-30 degree and i like it a lot as top middle. If you like it then leave it.

Hey guys a little update: This might be different with different receivers, I am not exactly sure BUT... I have listened to Listen to 360 dolby atmos demo and as you guys know I have a 5.1.4 configuration with top middle and front height. Looks like selecting top rear shouldn't matter since in the demo that has the atmos metadata the top middle and top rear sound comes out of the top middle speaker, which kinda makes sense; same way how the rear surround (back surround?) sound comes out of my regular (side) surround speakers. Just a heads-up and additional info If you guys even decide to make a longer video out of this. Also, my point of the question was more about what is the best possible setup for a room when you can only sit by the back wall. Imho it is front height and top middle. Also, a great topic to discuss is what about atmos setups that is not in the Dolby guide like mine. Some people yell at me for doing atmos totally wrong, since my setup is not listed in the guide. I think this is rather foolish. I have been using this setup for months now and yet to hear and see a single scene where the wrong sound coming out of the wrong atmos speaker. As far as i understand it; even if the setup is not in the guide as long as you properly install the speakers at the right angle from mlp, and you can select that exact speaker setup in the AVR then it will calculate (from the atmos metadata) what sound to play from what speaker(s). If you ever want to mention my experience: First, I had my front heights for a couple of months and I really like them. It opened the front sound stage up, and I could clearly tell the rain and thunders coming from up front when I was watching the Dolby demos (core and amaze). Since I had my top middle installed, to be honest I don't hear the front heights as much anymore, but I am sure if I have watched the same scene without them, I would have a "something is missing" feeling. Bottom line: to me, top middle is cooler than top front, but I would rather have the current setup than just having top middle.
