300gsm 100% cotton watercolour paper Arches 22 x 15 inches Rough.
Size 10 Black Velvet Brush
Flat 1 inch brush

Venetian Red (Light Red)

Woooow! This picture is sooo very beautiful and fascinating for me. I tried to do a city skyline (from Hamburg/Germany) in my sketchbook, but of course it is not half as fantastic as yours here, but I tried ☺. Today I saved a stick from my Magnum Ice and will try to use it next time😂. Anyhow, I learned a lot and I always do, watching your tutorials. I loooove it. You are such a fantastic teacher. Really effective technique….nice to see Prussian Blue being used….seems to be a less popular blue

I wonder if I could angle the card, zig zag it just slightly and make a forest scene. This is just the coolest technique I have seen in quite a while! TFS!!

Karen, great job. I haven't done this technique in a long while. I usally use quinacridone burnt orange with thalo blue gr.shade and th blue, red shade. But I like your ven red. thank you for inspiration on such a cold day! Onna

Amazingly effective - my eyes are searching into the background and in between the buildings! I wonder if there might be an application of this technique for a “green” landscape scene … 🤨. Great tutorial thank you 🙏!

Absolutely wonderful work, Karen. Thank you for sharing this tutorial. I think I’ll give it a go. I heard you say that you are using Arche’s 300 grams watercolor paper. Is that 300 grams or 300 lb paper?

Question, I have decided to try technique for a view of a Hamburg skyline. There are green copper roofs. Any thoughts on 2 best colours to create idea some verdigris?

You could use Payne’s Grey and Viridian or Viridian and Alizarin Crimson 😊

@@KarenRiceArt I did some testing with what I have and have used prussian blue and burnt sienna. There's a nod to green in there. I've completed stage 1. Looks OK. Will try another I think to see the difference. Thank you

Stage 2 complete and it looks really effective. I've also painted some swatches for other colour combinations. I should paint more now!
