Thanks for sharing , my dad gave me their atomic twenty years ago , I went to Bon trading to rethread the filling hole as the frozen steam release handle broke the inner thread as I cranked it open ,I think it's from the 60's , it has the short steamer end ,I managed to keep the original Steam release / filling handle and just replaced the seal to keep it original although it has a few scallops out of it near its seal from over tightening ,I'll go to Bon trading and get another I suppose and just keep the original so I have it , I'm going to tackle the top screen screws and try not to break them off , I'll check your video again on that procedure, I really appreciate your sharing ,there wasn't much inet twenty years ago so it was guess work trying to understand how to handle the atomic short of paying Bon to rebuild it and I know finger tight from now on , cheers big ears

Hi, congratulations on the videos! I have this problem: my Sorrentina emits very little steam. No steam leaks are seen, either from the cap or the steam arm. When the Sorrentina changes sound, I insert the stick into the filter holder and open the steam valve, but the steam emitted is very weak. If I remove the stick then the steam comes out forcefully from the filter holder. I descaled everything well and by "blowing" from the cap and the steam wand the air passes well. What's wrong with my Sorrentina? Thank you so much for your availability and for your beautiful videos!!

Great video but alas I not get the steamer knob off even with the screw out. What to do?

Hi - I think you have already figured out the problem but just for the benfit of others, taking the pressure release screw out of the steam knob wontb help you remove it if it is stuck. See this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4KTYoCtaah3o7M&t Mike

@@scottitonline hello again. I am still having trouble but have not always It’s definitely the seals on the frother but I can’t get the knob off 😟

@@vancamerawoman7399 You will probably need a seal kit which you can get from Bon Trading Sydney Australia. I keep some seals here in the UK - where are you based? Mike

Hi Mike, love your video. We have an Atomic (Brevetti Robbiati) just like the one in the video. I was able to remove the red steam knob and bevilled metal ring. However when trying to then screw out the brass shaft to get the seals out, the top (square) section of the brass shaft sheared right off, at the point where the square section joins the round section. The brass shaft will not screw out any further. Interestingly, the outermost washer on the brass shaft appears to be metal - not silicon. Can I please contact you directly for further advice? Thanks

Great series of videos. Just bought an Atomic. Finally!!! Yay!!! Poured out a whole lot of dry whitish powder .. ewww. Then under the plate (amazingly screw heads didnt snap) discovered thick white gunk. Lemon Juice and lots of shaking later machine is alot cleaner. Still hard to budge deposits in place but will leave for the time being. Made my first cup of coffee today. Amazing in comparsion to cheap charlie Moka Pot. Disappointingly steam wand didnt work. I will keep exploring and next time will try i) high temp from the get go ii) finer grind. If this doesnt work..will buy seal replacement kit from Bon Trading and see how I go. Thanks heaps for these vids. I feel my inner "nerd" stirring. Cheers from Regional Victoria, Australia. PS: Is there a reconditioning service available if my tinkering tanks? Cheers Lisa

Hi - did you get your steam arm working? Bon Trading do offer a refurb service if things do go horribly wrong. When using an atomic, you want the highest heat possible. If you are in any doubt as to which coffee grind works best, start off with a bag of pre ground La Vazza Rosa - that is pretty close to the ideal grind. Hope you are not too affected by rye fires. We are flying in to Melbourne at Christmas where I'll be reunited with my trusty red atomic which we keep in our camper out there. Mike

Hi - just seen your comment. How is the atomic going - did you get the steam arm working. I can refurb your machine in Uk or Bon Trading in Sydney can do it. Mike

Hello! I really want to buy an atomic. Which model is the best, new or old? Any certain year? Love the design of this machine. Where would you suggest to buy one? Love your instructional videos. I live in the United States and do not believe they sell them here. Also, I have read that there are knock offs. How can you tell that they are not authentic models? Thank you so much!!!

Hi Mike, I have a Sassoon labelled Atomic, how do I get the red knob off the frother arm as it has a side hole fastening?,looks like an allen key or very small screw which I can"t undo.I can replace with Bon trading top screw red one, and new brass section and seals, but be nice to keep original. Shaun

Hi - I'm not sure, I have never had to replace one the innards of a Sassoon and I'm not even sure the atomic parts would fit. I'm in France on holiday for a week and will disassemble a Sassoon when I get back. Mike
