Atomic Q9 vs Fischer RC4 The Curv with Snow Camps Europe
We had a question placed on our Fischer RC4 The Curv video and wanted to quickly get back to the persion asking the question so the next day we took a pair of Atomic Q9 for a slide and this was how it went. Is the Q9 compatible with the Fischer RC4 The Curv? No but is it a great fun ski Yes.

Interesting ski. I currently have an S9 atomic 165 slalom FIS ski. Also have a Fisher rc4 world cup slalom ski and also Kastle 88mx. I really don't like the 88mx. They don't hold their edge on ice and hard pack. The tails kick out all the time, although they're good in the bumps and powder and groomers but absolutely horrific on hard pack and ice. The slalom racers are absolutely fantastic on ice and hard pack I also have an atomic redster XT which is not usable in the bumps or powder at all. It's a fantastic speed demon ski with fantastic edge grip, but they're pretty heavy, very narrow. I'm looking for something I can ski with my son who has fat skis I'm looking for an x-racer ski. I can do all mountain. I like going in the bumps. I like doing some powder skiing in the woods but I demand to have very good edge control. Is this a good ski for that.

@lewtus72 This should work for you, also may be take a look at our Fischer GT video. We are about to test and review the new GT range in the next 3 weeks so more updated information to come on that.

Thanks for the very helpful review. I’m looking to replace my Atomic Supercross SX-11. I’ve been looking at the X9 and Q9. Any advice or pointers between the two please? I’m concerned that the X9 might take too much work to get the performance from the ski, perhaps the Q9 being better for full day skiing? Thanks in advance.

Hi if you can test both the Q9 and X9 the new X9 is now a blue ski but still the same as the green ski I now ski, both are the same and easier to ski than the older X9 as there is less stiffness and it is also lighter The Q9 benefits that wider tip and is softer again but can still hold a great edge. If you are able to ski both then do so.

@@SnowCampsEuropeThanks very much for replying.. I’m not able to try really although I might be able to in Feb. I’m doing a week in Hinterglemm, I believe you’re in Zell? I don’t suppose you know a shop I could demo from in Hinterglemm or Saalbach do you please? Otherwise I would be looking to buy in the UK. I’m not sure if skis are cheaper in Austria?

Thanks a lot for your time and for the detailed review! I think I am more inclined to the Q9 or Q7 from Atomic, since I am not that great of a skier and want to improve my technique. The Curv sounds more demanding and hard to drive (my tendency is to backseat)

Go for the q9 or look at the Curv GT rather than the RC4 The Curv

Not quite yet. But based on the reviews it looks promising all condition ski, easy and fun to drive with still some sport in it

whats the difference between the atomic and the völkl deacon 84 and which one u would prefere if u not an expert?

The Q9 is 75mm underfoot the Deacon 84mm the deacon also has a tip and tail rocker and is aimed more at the expert skier. Whereas the Q9 is more Advanced to experts. See if you can get to test both skis and see how they feel for you.

Did you had a chance to try Q 9.8 ? I’m considering Q9 or 9.8 and I’m interested in the differences and advantages 9.8 offers in a softer/ afternoon piste snow ?

I bought and I am skying on Q9i already few weeks. They are Excellent. Some days I am switching to my S9 just to test the difference, it´s huge. I will change only to Q9 for next years for sure. S9 is just waste of time for all day skying. What I am not sure is the difference between Q9, Q9i and Q9.8 . Can somebody explain ? I heard, it is different wood in core. But nobody is sure about it.

@@karolfabian963 Q9 and Q9i is the same ski, just the i model (colors) is older. Q9.8 is the wider skid under the foot and has 80 mm you in comparison with 75mm of Q9

The X9 is still a current model

The X9 was a 2022/23 model which is no longer available from Atomic you may find a pair in your local shop but once they have gone there gone.

Alain, i just spoke woth Atomic and the new X9 that is in blue is now hitting the shops but it looks like just the top sheet has changed.
