In the opening scene the reflections from Shinobi are different. Did you have anything added to Ninja or ninja is matte and Shinobi glossy?

hello. I am having a problem with my atomos shinobi. Was wondering if you know weather the shinobi works with only with mirroless cameras . Both on my 5d m2 and my 60 d, once i start to record the screen goes black. It does not let me monitor while recording but it does let me see playback. Is there somewhat of a fix for this or is my cameras just to old for its use??

You would have to output the LUT from the camera so its baked in in the monitor then the tools will react to to that

Hey! I am new to external monitors. Currently I've got a 6D Mark II that doesn't have clean hdmi output and after using the monitor for 10 mins i get burn-ins with the graphical interface (ISO etc..) What can I do about it? (Until I change the camera)

Thanks a lot for your video! What does it mean practically that the SDI version can’t do DCI 4K? For example if I am internally recording DCI 4K on my FujiFilm X-T3 and using the Shinobi SDI as Monitor via HDMI. I can currently get the Shinobi SDI version cheaper than the non SDI version so I am wondering about this limitation...

3:16 So does that mean if I record 4K60p with my camera, the Shinobi will simply output it in 4K30p? That would be completely fine. I don't need the ninja and I would like to have the shinobi. However, if it doesn't output an image at 4K60p, it makes the monitor unusable for me.

Is there any way to have the monitor display in full screen and not crop the image like this? 1:12 I have a A73 and when shooting 120p it crops the image, but allows full screen in 4K. I'd really appreciate the help.

Nah you gotta take your hdmi info off, basically showing your camera info, like iso, fstop , shutter… if you dont want it on the monitor and just on your camera… go to your hdmi info and turn it off, making it full screen, you just gotta look at yiur small camera screen just to see what iso or etc is…

I figured out a solution that worked for me. I have a Sony A7Siii and I went into settings then external output and turned “HDMI Info. Display” off. Hope that fixed your issues !

The medium sized larger batteries, i forget the name, but the one i got is here www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M2U6MNK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 These batteries don't decide to die on you randomly. Keep in mind that id keep any sort of battery safe from the elements as when i went to go shoot in cold weather any sort of battery (including these) will discharge very quickly when not in use.

Is the full range of values sent by the cameras (most of the non pro) managed correctly by the Shinobi now? If not, then all the tools information displayed on the Atomos is incorrect...

Yeah the information out by the cameras will be correct so the Shinobi will be showing accurate colors and exposure

@@lensprotogo Your answer is not precise enough. Have you compared the zebras on your camera screen and on the Shinobi when set at the same percentage? Until now, nobody could get good monitoring (excepted if you load a L3 LUT like) with the Shinobi (but not only) because most of the non pro cameras output full range whereas the Shinobi only manages a legal range.

OVERHEATING! It is possible that no one mentions the abnormal overheating of the Atomos Shinobi monitor??? I have two Shinobi monitors and they both overheat so much - I fear they will melt, even in studio conditions at 23c. I wrote to Atomos about my problem but they still haven't responded…

It can not, but to be honest the difference isnt that significant unless you are doing heavy grading. (which shouldnt be necessary if you have proper lighting and you work within the limits of the light sources you have)

Just gives you a “No Image’ message for unsupported speeds. I personally get around this with a J-Tech splitter/scaler that allows display of the highest version of the 4K or FD that the Shinobi is able to show. Big nuisance though, because the J-Tech adds extra cabling and another power cord to the kit. I already had that stuff for my Ninja Inferno and MixPre-6 to share time code with the GH5. I do prefer being able to see the image and use the tools on the Shinobi though, rather than just a “No Image” for those otherwise unsupported resolutions.

@@mreddieau oops, I’m in the wrong KZbin! Yes, I’ve got the HDMI, not the SDI. Before I got it, I was curious what happens when the camera is outputting 4K60, and the answer turned out to be “NO IMAGE” which is just plain frustrating, so I recalled the splitter/scaler and found that it basically solves that issue. The Shinobi is only an HD monitor after all so you’re not seeing 4K anyway even in the 24 or 30. Obviously in that sense they are scaling anyway, don’t know why they punt and show no image on the faster speeds.

Hmmmm...... would you recommend the Shinobi 5 for a Sony A7IV just for being able to see what I am recording through a larger screen? I pre ordered a Sony A7IV and I'm buying my Accessories to go with it. Someone recommended me the Sony CLM-V55 5 but as much as I like it because it's a Sony branded monitor, it's a pretty old model and on Sony's website it says that it will have limitations with certain cameras but they are not being specific, plus it doesn't come with a battery for the almost $400.00 USD price. Any advice would be appreciated. I have a youtube channel where I do Car audio DIYs and record my self using a Router Table etc as well as getting close ups of the blade spinning as the wood or plastic sheet gets cut. So a good monitor for me to see this stuff as I record would be great.
