Hit that like button if you want to see more ATP content like this! I have a lot of ideas so let me know if you want to see more of it.
Welcome to Taking Flight! If you’re new here, my name is Ethan Gregerson and I’m an 18-year-old student pilot out of Austin, TX. I’m super passionate about aviation and helping people, so I decided to start a channel dedicated to following me and my journey from a student pilot, to a captain at a major airline! As I work through my ratings, I will continue to make these videos to try and showcase the whole road from now, all the way up to airline pilot. If you’re interested in following my journey to the airlines, subscribe to this channel and make sure to like my videos to get this out to as many people as possible!
If you have any video ideas/requests, feel free to leave them down below in the comments and I’ll definitely be trying to get to as many requests as I can.

Thought since you go to atp it would be good to ask here, what is the difference between the main program and the airline fast track, and if you do fast track is it 175k or 275k total? Also for being a flight instructor to get your hours, how hard would you say it is to become one and what is it like to train other people?

Where did you actually start to become a private pilot at 18? I’m trying to get into the same field as you from what I’m seeing and it would be helpful to know from someone who has already done it.

From what you’ve seen is ATP’s curriculum a lot different from what you learned for your PPL? I’m wanting to switch over to ATP after getting me PPL here soon but am not sure if it will be too drastic of a change
@TakingFlightWithEthan
@TakingFlightWithEthan Жыл бұрын
You know, it actually surprised me. The adjustment from my part 61 school to ATP was very very easy. ATP has some non-standard procedures but for the most part, it felt very similar to my private pilot training.

I am thinking into switching out of my career to become a commercial pilot. I have no debt but not a ton of money saved. Do you think taking on the debt with ATP is manageable and able to be paid down after finishing & working for a few years?
@daniel_of_jersey4775
@daniel_of_jersey4775 Жыл бұрын
If you have a ton saved thats great you might be able to get through it without a loan. They make you pay as you go not all at once when you start. Basically a couple thousand every few weeks i think.

I'm also looking at a career change. I have a mortgage and a little saved up (so key will be figuring out how to cover those payments). I did a pre-approval with salle Mae for a $120000 loan (likely more than I will actually take out as my final loan). Depending on your credit and which repayment option you select, I had between $850 - $1000 / month payments. There are some nice tuition reimbursement programs with some regional airlines now to help when you have to start repaying during your instructing days, but once you are at a regional within two or three years you should be in a good position with the large bonuses they are paying out. This is one of my major concerns as well, since I figure I'll be making less than what I'm making now for at least three years and we are already on a tight budget without adding another big monthly payment. But if you look long term, it is definitely worth it. It's just trying to figure out how to make ends meet during training until you land an airline gig.
