great playing from Niels - he had 3 game points at 4:4 - he served pretty well with 8 "free points" on his serve - but only had 45% 1st serve and 2 double faults. Karue served bigger with 11 free points including 6 aces and 79% of 1st serves in. His forehand seemed a bit off with 11 errors but won 6 out of 7 points at the net. His backhand at 7:15 was sweet

Karue looks different when he plays in actual tournaments. His tournament on clay was phenomenal and played way better than what his rank states. He can be a top 200 player and here he played like a rank 1200 player. You can tell he was cold and forehand was floating around
@eyeofhorus13017 ай бұрын
@BreeZieDoesiT I played Starcraft 2 at a pretty high level yes thats quite different than tennis but same phenomenon occurs where once you get to a high enough league lower ranked opponents can actually be more difficult to play against and throw you off your game... Looks exactly the same as what happened here to me Karue felt awkward vs him and couldn't find his normal rhythm

Great matchup. Been waiting for this one! Even against a top recruit like Neils you can see how good Karue’s ball striking and weight transfer is. A class above. Niels shows a ton of promise and given his comments about Karue’s game, it is clear he knows what he needs to do to get better. If he gets fitter and stronger like Karue suggested, he will be a beast.

Interesting what Karue said, after listening to Craig O'Shannessy, who seems to believe the first balls (4 balls) and who plays those with more accuracy and conviction is ultimately the key to who wins at the pro level all the way down to the recreational level.
@MichaelSienkiewicz7 ай бұрын
I think it's mostly about having better strokes and movement, if you have those the numbers of good shots you can make will follow. Karue's first serve and especially his slice is way better and won him the match, plus his backhand is slightly more solid although both guys are awesome players

Karue is such a thinker and strategist. Once he figures you out, usually after game 4, he'll start to chop and dice you to death with placement, accuracy and consistency. The close score didn't tell the story that Neils was used as a windshield wiper. No amount of trash talk or head games is going to derail him.

Great video, thanks Winston! Question for Karue @MyTennisHQ (or any racquet experts), Karue said he switched back to the vcore 95 from the Percept 100D to strengthen his serve. Why is the vcore better for serves? More accurate because of smaller head size? You'd think the percept would have way more pop but less accurate.

Love watching Karue play. He reminds me of a next gen Federer. He is smooth and moves very effortlessly. Almost like any one of us could stand a chance if we played hard but in reality we likely wouldn't make a point unless he error'd. Thanks for getting him onto your channel and big thanks to him for continuing to be present for lower level/lower ranked players even though he is a high level Pro now. More Govind, Clay, Karue,, and of course, more Hermont. Actually, if you could get Hermont, Clay, Karue, Cassius (he's been playing really well so throw him in here also), and Govind to play a 5-man, double elimination tournament. I'm sure you could get some donations as well as some gear for the winner. Hell, Ill post up the first $250 towards that.

The next level..."taking the short balls and punishing them." This guy, this recruit that is on his way to SC, is right on track. Over decades I have watched so many players literally freeze their careers by not having an awareness and anticipation of the short ball, not necessarily always "punishing them" but taking an offensive risk at that moment. Doing something other that rallying back short balls are low risk ways to get: better angle, take time away from your opponent, and gain better court position for the next one or two shots. The king of this may have been Federer. Anyone who articulates this is a student of the game.

IMHO K understandably had a little less intensity than usual no thanks to his injury and possibly the racquet change, which makes a huge difference on one's tennis output. Karue was toying with Niels. At 4-4 he said "enough!" Niels has some funky strokes. He seems to be still growing into his body. A little clumsy on the footwork. His service form needs to be more compact-less things to go wrong. His forehand is wicked.
