Turbo Avistion 737 you missed the aircraft pitching up which caused the stall. It is very likely the ATR was in autopilot until the pitch-up. Something like this: 1) Autopilot is flying. 2) Flight crew prepare to land, communicating with ground control, then programs autopilot to decend. 3) Autopilot activates the "stick shaker" shortly after decent starts. 4) Human flight crew assume command of flying, but mistakenly decide the decent is the problem and pull back on thr yoke entering a climb. 5) This stalls the aircraft. 6) Recovery may not have been possible even from ~15,000ft and it did not help that the pilots had no training in this flight regime.

It appears to have. Likely in autopilot. Once commanded to decent it activated the "stick shaker" (steerring wheel vibrates in pilot's hands). Looks like the flight crew decided the decent was the problem and not icing becsuse the plane pitched up and stalled.
