Atraxa, Praetor's Voice Commander Deck Tech 2023 | Commander Decks Revisited

We've gotten alot of new cards, synergies, and support since I last covered Atraxa back in the year 2017, and so with Phyrexia, All Will Be One fresh on our plates, let's revisit an old favorite! Hope you enjoy!

awwww yiss! Atraxa tiiiime \@o@/ she's always been a favorite of mine, and I've built her like 4 different ways, with walker-infect being my current favorite iteration :o a fun little include i've really been enjoying is 'Necrogen Communion' - 2 mana to give atraxa toxic 2, and returning her to the battlefield if she's removed is fantastic - because atraxa always has a target painted on her back :o

Thoracle consultation doesn't really fit in the deck imho, it's too strong, and Atraxa is not a cedh viable commander

I literally restricted the build to only phyrexian cards except a few mana rocks. Had the original praetors foil from standard back in the day. And it’s more powerful than whatever you got going on here and with tasteful flavor. Birthing pod is great

Im asking for Atraxa, Praetors’ Voice for Christmas. My mom had asked her friends about it and they said nobody would want to play with me if i pull that card. I really want to build a deck with it as i am already putting together a phyrexia deck, i just need a commander and more cards to get my complete 100 cards TоT

I built Atraxa Equipments once to take advantage of the 4 keywords over the proliferation thing. Was rather potent - buffing a 4/4 with all those keywords made commander damage a possibility.

add phyrexian unlife, spoils of the vault, and solimity...noone see the infect player crashing down solimity hahahha but really love phyrexian unlife and solitude. Once you draw you entire deck, thassa would be fine. And thats only after all else failed. Infect would be primary win!! I'm gonna take this list and tweek it, I'll post my version in a couple mnths once I'm done, great vid!!!😊

I own the original Breed Lethality precon, and Atraxa has since been one of my favourite commanders. I rebuilt the original counter-up mechanic, tried a superfriends deck, then built a poison deck. Dishing out 30 poison damage is tricky however, you rely on heavy hitters (like Atraxa herself with Grafted Exoskeleton), but obviously they generate a lot of aggro, and the other 3 players teams up and can stop this deck quite easily. All Will Be One expansion however produced so many useful cards that use toxic/proliferate mechanics. that I rebuild my deck completely in a very similar way you propose here. I can vouch for this biuld you are proposing. My current deck focuses on spells that hand out poison counters (have 22 of them in deck) and spells that proliferate (19 of them). To achieve that I gave up the usual staples for the sake of spells with strong mechanic synergy (like instead of the usual Dismember I added the less powerful Drown in Ichor). I almost don't have to cast any creatures, and for the firs't time playing an Atraxa deck, I won a game without even casting the commander herself, such is the speed of dishing out poison counters. By turn 5 I usually have 1 opponent dead and the rest with 6-8 poison. This may be slow for cEDH, but for casual play is lightning fast. I deliberately omitted the Thoracle combo though, I use it in so many decks, that I decided to fully commit to poison this time.

I interpereted lacking red as lacking speed. Her ability is powerful and inexorable but certainly not fast.

It definitely can lack speed, which is something I've been attempting to address with adding in some of the stax pieces and the additional ramp.

I was making my atraxa deck listening to this I'm relatively new to deck building so i was able to make a strong deck with fast proliferation it has a large amounts of one drops so i get in early and build up proliferating

I do too. I know prior to 2016, alot of folks house ruled them to be legendary. Wizards had no love for the Nephilim after their one appearance...

I love this. I also thought to incorporate a stax theme in my Atraxa infect list but I haven’t done it. I agree that ichor rats and all the new cards that give a poison counter and then proliferate them out is the best strategy.

I recently got a bunch of infect/toxic cards and started playtesting. After the first day i realized i wasnt really using the little infect boys instead giving everything poison counters and proliferating as much as i can
