Greetings from the southern Fremen! The early +50% military tech speed primed this game for aggression, and I was already planning to get fighty! Poor @Alivebear9 spawned in real close and got his early army caught out too far from home. Already set for war, it was just a short walk and a single annex to begin sieging his base. I did indeed leave Turin for dead while Hadres and I repeatedly clashed over prime real estate in the far east. The huge Turin comeback caught me by surprise and the game was actually decided by a pivotal Atreides/Fremen battle in the east where I finally broke the back of the Atreides army and got the breathing room to annex some Ecaz ruins just before Turin could complete his come from behind! GGWP!

@@Jimbrosss chani/stil 100%, gotta be a bully early to secure more than your fair share of spice fields, mid game find all the sietches to ally and get online all available military buffs, start planning for what an end game hedge push will look like

57:55 I felt that in my gut. Trying to dig out of an early hole, finally getting some stability, and a worm just deletes like 10 military units in a blink of an eye!

Excellent job surviving the early-game aggression as Corrino! Often times you have to learn to work with the fact that someone is going to take away a territory, even a territory bordering your main base! I think the placement of the maintenance centers could've been improved somewhat, but really, small details when you're constantly juggling survival with trying to stay in the running. Very good empire building!

This game is too good. 4-player pvp at this level is so exciting and interesting. There's nothing out there that feels like this game. Well played to all combatants. Much more of this, please, Turin.

@@dredderick3686 Release peak (in September) was ~1600, it dropped to ~800 within the first 2 weeks, and has been more or less steady since then. Which I would have thought was fine some something this niche...?

@@dredderick3686 It usually handles lag very well - the new patch has some teething problems, but I'm sure they'll get it fine. Even at 400 players, with 4 per game and 1.5 hour games, that's a game starting every minute or so. Buuut it's VERY niche, so it could die tomorrow... /shrug

Every week I organize Dune Weekly FFA or 2v2. About 30% of the participants are also member of Turin's discord. So, in some extent, i agree that Turin keeps this game alive. It is niche but I expect momentum when Dune Part 2 (the movie) will be released and the development team of Dune: Spice Wars spent some time exploiting this hype.

That said, I require a mouse and keyboard to be given the opportunity to play with some level of competitiveness. Corrino is the faction I struglle the most to play. I feel (at least early game) their troops weak and not being able to expand easyly gives you poor access to spice that is not compensed by the +1 slot in villages.

Ecaz is really bad against early aggression. Units are over too overpriced early and there is no good synergy with them early. Also, the -2 training slots are hurting them a lot. I was also screaming inside my head when I saw Turin not scouting the Atredes or checking his economy through the diplomacy window. If Atredes goes for early aggression it is going to destroy his eco early. Atredes played this game like 1v1 and not FFA.
