Wasn't the point of it that it shows they were worshipping The Eye? They thought of it as a benevolent deity. When that idea got crushed and they believed The Eye was evil, they burned down the church.

I appreciate watching these playthroughs of people who don’t hold the game to the same reverence that I do. Having all of my feelings about the game get validated again is nice and all, but watching more disconnected streamers dive into the game and play it in a totally different way than I did is an interesting new perspective. It lets me appreciate what the game does well or not so well for people who aren’t me.

The Prisioner didn't f... everybody, he saved the universe. The universe was dying. A conscious observer entering the eye was the only way for the universe to at least have a new chance to reset itself. The owl people knew part of this, for there is a painting in a burned house that shows new life being born from the skeleton they saw in the vision about the Eye. The owl people, knowing this, chose to maintain the destruction of the universe in order to continue living in the simulation.
@thotsnotallowed42849 ай бұрын
It's implied that the painting in the burned house was the Prisoner's, like he was the only one to see the optimism in their circumstance
@meekumanu9 ай бұрын
This is just totally misconstrued. There's no evidence that the Owlks knew the universe was dying naturally. Their readings on the Eye restarting the universe if observed was correct. They sealed the Eye signals to prevent themselves and any other species from prematurely wiping out the universe, that to their knowledge was not going to die. Idk why people see them as the villains, when in actuality, they delayed the restarting of the universe by up to 280,000 years. If the Nomai from the Vessel found the eye in their time, Hearthians would have never even existed. Also, they created the simulation because they missed their home, not out of ignorance of the Eye.
@BananaWasTaken8 ай бұрын
Fun fact: that painting is the prisoner’s. All the other owlks saw the vision of the eye and feared the end of the universe it’d bring. But the prisoner recognised that it was necessary, and a new universe would be born out of it
@somerandom95203 ай бұрын
I don't mind parts of his take on this tbh. The strangers could've cut millions of lives short when they first found it. The nomai clans were to live for at least another 200,000 years and the hearthians hadnt even evolved yet, dark bramble didnt even exist. They could've found a way to preserve their bodies in the simulation and wait out the end of the universe allowing all the life of the universe to be lived fully, then wake up and observe the eye and reset the universe. but... definitely wasnt the case for the owlks smh, buncha scaredy cats.
@dewhi1002 ай бұрын
That whole argument is predicated on whether the Eye really destroys anything. Once we enter the Eye's 2001 dream sequence, the passage of time is up to interpretation. I personally believe that once we get in there we are removed from time, and are watching the natural death of the universe on fast-forward. And the game itself is crystal clear (to me) on its themes. Stay curious and optimistic, accept our mortality, and lay foundations for the successors we will never get to meet. The Strangers are the antithesis to those ideas, with the glaring exception of the Prisoner. Then again lots of people are just as adamant that the Eye is a universal insta-kill, so the debate will never end.

It blows my mind how Atrioc can just glance over stuff and then find half the games progress by accident or stubbornness.

I never get tired of watching how vigilant us Outer Wilds fans are about the "no elp" rule. Every game out there, there's a small group of players that are willing to spoil it for chat and or the streamers, but not Outer Wilds. It's like you join the "Cult of No Elpers" the moment you finish the game for yourself. We all have a fanatical devotion to spoiler free playthroughs. 😂 I'm so proud of our fanbase! 👍🏼

this dude has absolutely 0% immersion in the game, constant jokes without paying attention to the atmosphere. Bruh
@randomname19110 ай бұрын
This seems to happen when bigger streamers play the game. People definitely feel the game differently and play it differently whether they’re a small creator recording without being live, a streamer with a small audience, or someone like Atrioc who’s entertaining a few thousand people. Same thing happened worse with jerma, but it’s one of my favorite playthroughs since it’s the funniest I’ve seen, even though he didn’t end up understanding a lot of the game

Yep, this playthrough is the #1 worst playthrough ive seen. Incredibly tonedeaf, laughs constantly at everything and everyone, ignores (or just forgets?) lore and clues and does an 180° at the interpretation of the lore of the end. And then i read in the comments he argues 2+ hours the prisoner got whats coming to him and the owlks were in their right to deny a refreshed universe in favor for a dying one? BIG OOF. Atrioc? More like atrocious... Anyway liked the vid nevertheless, thanks for your work Eelis!

jesus I actually watch atrioc for his economy commentary, but I'm so impressed by his gameplay. in both the base game and dlc he keeps finding crazy stuff by accident and "sequence breaking". I was already giggling when he started jumping the damned tree to get to the building with the broken bridge. and it's absurd that the very first painting he removed lanterns from was the right one lol
