Another aspect of the Dr. Pepper two way alliance that he didn't mention is international distribution. In the UK, Japan, and South Korea, Dr. Pepper is distributed by the Coca Cola Company. In Canada and Oceania, they're distributed by PepsiCo. This means that all three make money if Dr. Pepper succeeds. But of course, their primary market they have independent control. Each competitor has a small but sufficient enough piece of the pie that they aren't gonna knock the whole thing off the table.

I think a large reason for people not making friends at work has less to do with meetings and more to do with people moving companies more often.
