Actually, ritualistic burnings are a fairly old tradition, that’s why it seems outlandish. Remember, the Christian Church for example, is a relatively recent idea and it mixed within lot of old pagan ideas. That’s why in the deeply catholic Italy of the original mafia, these traditions actually exist. They are well documented btw.

@@LWLProductions Its gotten a lot harder to just kind assasinate people these days. Plus while the Mafia still exists and makes more money than either of us will have in our life-times in a year, it gets harder and harder to kill people who have exited with probably enough money to live on, Live in a neighborhood or place with lots of Cameras or adequate enough security, not really to on the grid and showing off where they live, and honestly not doing anything harmful anyway. The whole kill every person who trys to quit thing is still a rule, just like how them not doing the drug business is a rule, its all on paper, ever many who leaves is a dead man, but many only die of natural causes.

Honestly that "good ol' days" view on crime is pretty common I've come to notice, if you ever take public transport late at night in my city, you'll usually get a couple NS or NSK boomers talking about the good ol days of gang warfare and stand-up brawls, and how the kids these days have no honor and no loyalty.

It's just the human condition, old people say how things were better in their day and that todays young people suck. This has been a constant throughout all of human history. There's a famous quote that I don't remember completely, but it was something like "I dread the day that society is left to the next generation". It was an old guy moaning about how the next generation will ruin everything, and it's dated to ancient Greece.

That’s the power of the algorithm. I went from watching some guy play chess to two Canadians called the Botez sisters, then to other American streamers and eventually, I ended up here. In less than a year. I had watch some people who occasionally stream but then suddenly I started getting recommendations from people who almost exclusively stream. It’s pretty scary if you think about it. How much power this algorithm has over what content you even know exists.
@albingrahn5576
@albingrahn5576 2 жыл бұрын
@@Arcaryon (sorry this got long, tldr algorithm scary) Very true. It's hard to wrap your head around the mind-numbing amount of content that exists on KZbin. 720 000 hours of content would take you a literal lifetime (82 years) to watch (assuming you don't need basic human needs like sleep), which is scary and all, but then you realize that the number I gave you (720 000 hours) is just how many hours of content that gets uploaded in a single day, every day! KZbin is a practically infinite, ever-expanding library of content and the algorithm is the mysterious librarian that somehow not only navigates it all, but is able to perfectly tailor a unique experience for every single visitor. Worst part is that due to how many people are working on it at the same time and the nature of AI and neural networks in general, no one person really knows for sure how the algorithm even works. It has taught itself how to do its job, and it's gotten frighteningly good at it. Its job is to keep viewer watch-time high, nothing else, so strategies like giving you things you really hate (but keep) watching or showing the iPad kids shock content involving their favorite characters are perfectly valid. The people working on the algorithm can't really control it either, they can only give it a carrot when it's behaving or tell it "Hey! Maybe don't do that..." when it does something wrong. Having an AI recommend you what you want to watch before you even know it yourself is nice and all, but personally I feel like we normalized the concept of a virtual creature having control over what billions of people watch a little bit too quickly.
