As a German, the FDP just isn't "left-wing" at all, yet the FDP (Free Democrats) was in coalition with the SPD (Social Democrats) and the Greens, that are left-wing. The coalition broke apart because the SPD and Greens are for high Welfare and Green spending, but the FDP is for low taxation and low spending at all cost. Of course the split was really driven by the bad economy, since right and left coalitions are the norm in Germany (like the "Great Coalition" between the CDU (Christian Democrats) and SPD from 2013 to 2021), but the crack was there from the very beginning.
@benedictbluhm8607Ай бұрын
The split was purely caused by the FDP though. If you read the ZEIT Article about it its honestly shocking. Slight correction: the fdp isnt a left wing party. They view themselves as centrists but everyone else would put them in the right wing categoy
@Videos-si4euАй бұрын
Also the FDP was booted out by Olaf Scholz rather unexpectedly. At least for the FDP. I think last week a major news network published an investigation where the top brass of the FDP planned a "D-day" (yes they called it exactly that) where they wanted to get out of the coalition and wanted to make a big show out of it (to look good). At the end of the day the so called D-day was a little bit too early for the FDP and they were completely surprised by the cancellors (Scholz) sudden move to fire them. You can see the public statement in the evening by Christian Lindner (Boss of the FDP) and you can see he was surprised, angry and really you had the feeling he just cried. And the thing about the paper: No it is not a tactic to get a later voting. Germany spent the last 20-30 years far too less on infrastructure etc. I think last year exactly the same problem occured in the election for the mayor of Berlin. PS: Sorry for the English. If sth is not quite right you can ask and I am sure there are Germans who are much smarter and more knowledgable than me here :-) . Edit: For the german readers: The major news network is Die ZEIT. Calling the german "Freie Demokratische Partei" (FDP) a business-friendly-leftwing party is wrong. They are what Americans would call libertarians and they didn't say "I'm out" they were kicked out by the chancellor after proposing a ridiculous program that infringed on previously agreed upon policy compromises. The FDPs leader is pretty much the sole reason why germany has been unable to take on debt for investments cause his understanding of a states economy is at best that of a 16 year-old.
@SlagLPsАй бұрын
Correction: The FDP isnt a "market-friendly left" coalition party. They have the word liberal in their name, but it is the European liberal, meaning having liberties and free trade. They are traditionally a party for the rich/upper class, people who profit the most when the stock market grows, hence why Linders favorite line during the last elections were "Der Mark regelt das" (The market will take care of that). They are indeed not left, not even left leaning, which made this coalition both impressive but also fragile at the same time, since the green party and the SPD are both center-left parties, with some more left leaning ideas, while the FPD is a center-right party, which will transform their virtues if it is profitable. (Which is why some people in Germany say that its a party without backbone, and why the party usually only gets around 5%. They really profited from the CDU losing their popularity during Merkels last 4 years(

As someone living in Germany - there are a few issues/ comments I have on the part about Olaf Scholz. 1) the FDP is a middle-right economic party. They run on pure capitalism, i.e. cutting social spending and welfare to reduce government spending and reducing climate policy so that you can drive fast on the autobahn and buy fast cars. Absolutely not a left party. Closer to the American understanding of a libertarian. 2) the graphic used for German parties is very questionable. The two center top parties are genuine nazi parties and not a part of the Democratic System. The reason they aren’t banned is because the government sees them as too small to pose any risk (which is incredibly stupid imo). 3) Not an issue in the video per se, but an issue in Germany. The AFD, who’s poster was shown at the end of the segment, is a far right, anti-immigration, semi nationalist party which uses very similar tactics (and policy) to trump, being incredibly populist. There have been discussions on whether or not they should be banned for suggesting policies that are anti-constitutional. I think it’s dangerous to show them as a simple alternative in the video, even though they are one of the fastest growing parties here.

I'd like to add one thing here. Big A talks about how tariffs are good at protecting a certain job/skill, which is true, but that is only a part of the picture. The larger picture is that they protect monopolization from 1 country, specifically a country we are unsure of staying friendly with. Areas like technology/chips are a great example. If China becomes the only place to get good quality chips for CPUs and GPUs, then they can turn off the flow of chips to the US or other places, the US government has to be cautious of using said chips that might have embedded malware/spyware, the general public could also be at risk of the chips, etc. Overall, it is less about "America has to be able to produce this" and more of "we need to ensure America can have safe and ample access to this", which could be by ensuring allies maintain that capability or by ensuring we maintain that ability. Another example is something like BYD and the electric car market. If China is willing to use government dollars to severly reduce car prices, then the impact is all other manufactures will not be able to compete and stop trying to make electric vehicles. This will lead to China being the only place to get said vehicles, which could cause an issue if they no longer want to sell the in the US or certain places. Remember, competition is the consumers friend, and tariffs should be there to ensure we can maintain competition, not monopolize American interests

While we made Go-carts from China more expensive let's say from 300- 599$ now in america the American producer will make their new price now 589$ from their original 350$ price because they can get away with it now. Watch the video again it's explained in great detail how they work. 😁
@karthh1987Ай бұрын
@@Usersunited tariff's almost never play out that way. As Atrioc said, Tariff's usually just trigger retaliatory tariffs. It's not much of a bargaining chip when the other side also can tariff your goods. Trump's first term tariffs were a 25-30% (approaching 50% for very select goods) tax. The impact to US prices was mostly offset due to relative strengthening of the dollar comparative to the Chinese Yuan. As a result, very slight increases in export prices were passed to the consumer, and both US and Chinese exporters lost some profitability due to time lost in finding new nations to export to, but not enough to cause real harm. Trumps new round of tariffs are a completely different beast, approaching 60% for most goods. It is unlikely we see the same kind of equilibrium as the earlier set of Tariffs because the Yuan would have to weaken to an unrealistic level in order to compensate for the rise in export price. It is extremely likely the cost passed along to the consumer will be higher than the first round of tariffs. The strength of these taxes matter when considering the consequences.

It's an assumption that the domestic market will rise to near the level of the tariffs - but really only accurate for monopolistic markets. Markets with domestic competition should still see price competition, there will be an increase in the end but in the tractor example it would be more like 150$ max. The far more likely outcome is a reduction in consumer choice as foreign competitors flee the market. Not necessarily great, but there are other benefits like tax revenue, jobs, price insulation etc.

The Amazon delivery optimizations sound like the ones in a warehouse. This is very common for pick and pack processes in distribution centers.

For the last 5 years I have worked my ass off at work to keep up with and stay ahead of inflation, and I am only now starting to feel like I can buy the things I want and do the things I want to do. The though of inflation coming back because of these tariffs just makes me want to give up completely, like no matter how hard I try I will never make progress so what's the fucking point??? I think i'm done bro :(

Btw there is a good reason for stalling the reelection. When a reelection happens the cycle is basically reset. Currently the election would happen in September, but if the reelection happens during in December, every following election will be in December until a new "emergency" reelection happens. Having elections close to Christmas and New Years is obviously a bad idea and thus stalling it to something like February or March is the better option in the long run.

Unfortunately grocery prices will never go back down because now they see we are willing to buy groceries at the current price
@AvendesoraАй бұрын
"willing" is a very very very funny word to use when you're talking about something we absolutely must have to live lmao. What option is there but to be "willing" to pay?

Awesome, glad I just listened to a high school level understanding of tariffs for 20 minutes
@postmental_thoughtsАй бұрын
to be fair, most americans don’t even have that level understanding so it makes sense to start with the basics, though i agree it could’ve been a bit more in depth.
@BdawgvalidestАй бұрын
Trump doesn’t even have an elementary school understanding of it.

the editing mistake wasnt a mistake. Everyone in the comments pointing it out and therefore generating interaction. Atrioc, you´re a genius

I'm getting my MS Finance and the reason I'm able to hold a conversation about the Japanese economy is because if Atrioc. The reason I know about blackrock is because of Atrioc. The reason I knew that T-Bills were at a very high percentage was because of Atrioc. I get almost all of my news from KZbin, but I also get a lot of insights from KZbin. I think an important lesson I've learned "specifically from the glizzster" is to read shit. I'm getting the Play Nice book for Christmas and I'm actually digging into articles.
