Surprised no mention of the 3 hour 20 minute StarCraft 2 game, in a high level tournament, held the entire bracket up for hours. At one point Zerg vs Terran at high level was just standard over an hour long, with tons of 2 hour+ games, it was a horrible period of time.

Videos about Smash History are lowkey goated. To anyone who enjoyed what they saw from that Michael vs Bananas video I'd recommend: Melee Stats, Turn Down For Walt, and PGStats (hope I'm not forgetting any others). Practical TAS also made 2 really good videos about Melee's Break the Targets world records. Lastly I'd also like to recommend GRtr4sh for his videos that use clips and music to paint a picture rather than actually commentary. He mostly does content for the newer Smash games, but his video Mang0: The Musical is possibly my favorite Melee video so if there's one thing I'd recommend over anything else from this comment it would be to watch that.

This brings me back to the days of the Lego Star Wars III Versus mode. It literally puts you on a giant battlefield and you go around building defenses and raising troops to fight a freaking war. Me and a friend of mine would easily play a single match for over an hour and I don’t think we ever really finished them because one had to go, but we had a blast. That mode was actually amazing.

Damn and I thought the 3 hour single round FPS match I played in for the short lived Neotokyo esports scene was long. This one trumps that by quite a bit lol Edit for clarity: 5v5 death is permanent till the next round like in CSGO. Round had no time limit. We stalemated for 3 hours…

@@bphelpsy0044 Unfortunately not. This is back late 2009, where most people didn't even have something that could capture video. @CriticalKunic

@@chunkysweirdtoaster3081 This was a game mode like capture the flag, but with something they called a ghost. Whoever held the ghost couldn't use their weapons, but essentially had wall hacks. We had the ghost and used the spotter to see that the entire enemy team was camping our capture point. The 3 hours was us waiting for enough of their members to move in a certain direction in order for us to bolt past them using frags for distraction. Unfortunately, even though this was a tournament match, it didn’t follow standard tournament rules with a turn time limit. Us hitting this ~3 hour single turn time quickly spread around the community and not only became a meme (to “pull a zanshi”, which was our team name) but contributed in the decline of the scene.

Should have included Gerson vs Superboomfan's hour long game 1 in ssb64. At the time, only vanilla ssb64 was used in tournaments which didn't have a timer and the Peruvian scene played on Hyrule. Boom capitalized on this by camping the living hell out of Gerson, including a 23 minute stretch of no damage being dealt whatsoever.

12:02 The difference between wobbling and what M2K was doing is while M2K was ledge chaining Wobbles could press buttons on his controller and his character would take actions. When you get wobbled you just get to sit there until you die or your opponent drops combo, you don't get to do anything.

There was an r6 siege game that went on for like 3 and a half hours which is a long time even in pl, most games finish when one team gets 7 wins but it was finals with unlimited OT where you need a lead of 2 wins, G2 vs team empire the first game went 12-10 because neither team let up for a second. An absolutely insane match that they had to play 2 other games afterwards

Just another day of watching a random LCK match and it turned out to be the longest game in the history of LoLEsports at 94 minutes and almost crossed over the next boradcast of another league that was playing that day. So insane. These days the average game time is much, much lower around 25-30 minutes for both pro and non pro so this will likely never be beaten.
