I can't either. This footage sat in my closet, finally remembered it and thankfully it was all still good, for the most part. I was able to save about 95% of my train footage

Hard to imagine that even in 1991 the hacks were gone already.

Thanks for your comment. Yes indeed, by 1991, the hacks were pretty rare - although you could catch one, once in a while.

Cool revisiting all of those neat per-diem boxcars and freight cars in general with none being obliterated by graffiti.

Thank you for your comment! I agree, and we kind of took it for granted in those days - thought we would always see trains like this, the ATSF, SP, etc. The amount of graffiti we see now is indicative of the deterioration of our society, and it is a sad thing.

@@b2major9th So very true. Change is the only thing that is constant, and while I admit that I’m not as enthralled with the current state of railroading as I once was, one of the biggest drawbacks is the proliferance of graffiti. Sadly, many from the younger generations of railfans actually embrace it. Admittedly, some of these “artists” are very good at what they do. I just wish that they would channel their talent towards something productive for society. They could undoubtedly make a pretty decent living while creating something that is legitimate at the same time.

Obviously Cheech and Chong were 'Bo-in' in that Texas Mexican Railway boxcar at 1:02! Probably escorting that special load of "produce" -- wink wink from the Central American growers....Um, I mean farmers!

I wonder why those B units have bells.
@b2major9th3 жыл бұрын
Interesting observation. Maybe for use when they were being moved around the yard

Maybe. But how they would activate them?
@b2major9th3 жыл бұрын
@@flattrain5834 While the GP60B did not have true hostler controls, they were able to be moved and my assumption is that while moving they would need to actuate the bell by means of a valve inside one of the access doors.

I believe a handbrake was inadvertently left set. Not a good thing, but sure made for a dramatic scene!
