♿️ Attaching footrests on a Wheelchair (How to in 4K)

This video explains how to attach (and remove) the footrests on a wheelchair.
On the sides of the wheelchair, you will find two small pins sticking up. These are the attachment points for the footrests. The footrests have two small holes, which fit exactly over these pins. life the footrests over the pins and then rotate the footrests towards the front of the wheelchair until the small lever locks into position.
In order to remove the footrests push on the lever and then rotate the footrests outwards. Now you will be able to lift the footrests off of the two pins, on which the footrest rests on.

I work for security in a hospital where I needed to put some leg attachments on wheelchairs and this video helped me out so much. One of the pins wasn't on a wheelchair so now I know why didn't stay on there for long

I'm not new in human care. I know how to do blood pressures, give insulin, give meds etc but I never had to use a wheelchair on any of my patients. Helpful video, helped me to discover one of my footrests must be faulty as it won't 'click' into place, the other one has to be pushed to click in. Just bought it too.

Just bought a chair from Amazon and figured out (thanks to your post) that the footrests were backwards -- when deployed they faced out rather than in. I was able to detach and reattach the foot rest plates themselves so now both are facing in and both rests lock in properly. Thank you!

I had the same problem: if I place foot rest pedal in locked position, then they looking outward. If I placed them correctly, then locker did not do a thing.

Lil tip you might need to move the foot rest part around because mine looked like it fit on the right but the foot rest part was weird until i twisted it in the right spot

I bought a used Merits wheel chair that did not include the foot rests. Need to buy foot rests so it it usable. Been reading about them and learning that some do not fit!!! This one has 5/16" diameter pins and the mounting plates are 3-1/8" apart. Merits website looks like they have discontinued the manual wheel chair to expand into the power chair market. Can you point me in a direction for what I need? Thank you!

thank you! recent accident, local municipality leant me a wheelchair. looks like this one, though no foot rests came with it. i wonder where to find some? maybe at local used chair center, i don't know. thought id ask :)

All of these types of transport chairs has a design deficiency. There's no way to secure the foot rests when they are folded back against the body. They just fall out. We were given a Drive Medical transport chair, without foot rests, but we managed to purchase a new set, same color. The hinge pins should have had a retainer (perhaps a hole on the top pin, that a cotter pin or some other type could be inserted) to prevent the footrests from separation during folded transportation.
