Love the work mate, your style and approach is pure class. I started a save with Ajax there and somehow won the champs league in my first season. I’d quite a few teenagers in the staring line up and beat Real Madrid 3-1 in the final. I used a pretty unusual formation which has worked really really well on a few saves. It’s essentially a 4-1-4-1 with a trequartista but it’s asymmetric and looks a bit mad. Happy to share if anyone interested Anyway.... Keep up the great work.

I'm currently beginning in the lower leagues with Leyton Orient. With the squad already possessing the personell to implement the system, I realised that while it was fluid in attack, we conceded a lot of shady goals. To fix it I changed two roles. Up front; complete forward to pressing forward attack and defensive midfielder to deep-lying playmaker support. Offered a little most stability, still stayed fluid. Hopefully, this helps as we adjust.
@oliverhumby73

''Too many players closing down may leave big gaps in my team's shape''... But to not counter press is losing the point of total football! And essentially in Cruyff's tactics, if a gap was made, a player would cover that gap in a never ending pattern of players covering for each other, which creates that extreme fluidity you essentially need to recreate a Cruyff tactic.
@fmscout
@fmscout 4 жыл бұрын
Hey. Exactly that, but unfortunately on the game you have to comprise something for it to act better. On Football Manager, 2 players tend to chase 1 ball, which isn't great at all. Cruyff's teams were great at closing down (which is why i chose extremely urgent) but they were also great at cutting passing lanes so the opposition on the ball has no options which is why i had to remove the Counter Press..it was originally on, but its not fun to watch on FM
@oliverhumby73
@oliverhumby73 4 жыл бұрын
Yeh I understand that. FM is a really good game but it's not complete, so for something to work you may need to do some changes that may not apply to real life, that is something I understand. Great video btw! Can't wait to see more of these!

Currently experimenting w tactics that uses a Libero and your explanation helps me to understand the reason behind each role and tasks. My only question regarding this tactic is, do you do away with the full backs or do you pick them as the wide centre backs or do the fullbacks then compete for starting role in the defence position together with the centre backs? Many thanks!

Always thought the DM pinged balls all over the shop and the AM played with his back to goal.. laying short balls off to on running midfielders and out to wingers? And the CF was the “Cruyff” role, which was the original F9. He went wherever. Suppose it’s very difficult to get it to work in FM.

@Herosennin
@Herosennin 4 жыл бұрын
This isnt entirely correct. Cruyff played with a Libero not a DFM. Thats why he played with full backs, because when they didnt have the ball and pressing fell through, the libero would fall back to a CB and more precisely, one that sweeped. The real strength of this tactic wasnt just players switching positions, but it was especially the center positions on the field that acted fluently being allowed to drop or walk up the court to create superior numbers.
@fmscout
@fmscout 4 жыл бұрын
Hey. A Libero can only be played in defence. So if Cruyff played a Libero, it could only be in defence. And in the video I explained he used two natural full backs with a Libero between them. Perfection would be impossible to achieve on a game, but whilst you disagree with the formation, how it plays on the pitch is different. Just like Cruyff tactics. What it looks like on paper is different how it plays on the pitch
@Herosennin
@Herosennin 4 жыл бұрын
FM Scout Well a Libero plays in defense, but could basically be a secondary striker at the same time. I tested the Libero and on offensive he crosses the midfield nearly every possession. Two famous Libero's known for their offense are Beckenbauer and Lothar Mathaus. Both played as center back, but both constantly crossed half court.
@fmscout
@fmscout 4 жыл бұрын
i don't disagree with you, but your comment said that he plays with a Libero, which i also use too? i don't understand your 1st comment because Cruyff used a Libero and Pep Guardiola was the man in front of that Libero. if Libero goes, Pep could cover, they always maintain a back 3, changing to a back 4 at times. Cruyff used diamonds, his 1st diamond was in defence and 2nd was in midfield. That would be impossible without a DFM

@@fmscout First of all thank you for your amazing videos. Well, with regards to the issue of the overlapping centre back, I think the closest you have for overlapping CB is your stay wide and dribble instructions, I think the limitation is due to not having the option to select get further forward on the player instruction, I think to get further forward and roam from position would have helped.

I tried this tactic also in FM 19 using Atletico (but it's already very different squad bcs I'm in my 7th season). Possession is good, but so many unnecessary shots though I already switched on less shooting on Mezzala and IF. I got probably 30+ shots in a game, but only 9 on target and obviously 0 scored. Defence is lacking in flank as expected, helped by narrowing attacking width. Many goals conceded by sudden flank switch by opponents. What do you adjust in tactic? Actually this is a quite entertaining tactic, just need to be more effective in final 3rd. I haven't tried yet but using higher engagement insteaf of much higher will help front three to have decent space for chances

Sorry mate but this may be the worst tactic I've ever seen in my life. Started with Leicester, signed a few players all player fit the bill and were good enough. By December 2019 in game I was 19th in the league with 1W 5D 9L. The 1 win was actually my last game before I got sacked.

Once again bad recreation tactic. The shape, the roles, the instructions and the training is all wrong IMO. I suggest you do more research on Cruff's 3-4-3 and playing philosophy. You are misleading the users. Barcelona vs Sampdoria 1992 CL final: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n6Sxd3qji5mCkMU AC Milan vs Ajax 1994 CL group game: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJm3mYh_bMZqars I suggest you watch these matches to get a better idea. There are some similarities and differences between how Cruyff and Van Gaal set up their respective systems. But you are far off on both. For start, the 3-4-3 should use IWBs in the WB positions. Notice the positioning and movement of Juan Carlos & Eusebio plus Davids & Seedorf - clearly IWBs. Guardiola was DLP-D, while Rijkaard was regular DM-D. Koeman was a Libero flanked by 2 BPDs, while Danny Blind was a simple CD on Cover Duty flanked by regular defenders on Defend Duty (Barca's defenders were more strict man-markers, while Ajax's defenders not so much). Cruyff used IWs, IFs and False 9, while Van Gaal used Winger and Complete Forward. I believe in both cases Litmanen and Bakero were AM-S. Cruyff's version was more fluid, possession based, shorter passing, patient with higher pressing. Van Gaal's was more rigid with less creative freedom with less pressing. No offense but you need to revise your recreation. Of course the ME and Tactic Creator have their limitations but there is enough to make a better and more accurate recreation 3-4-3 Total Football tactic. Btw, the term total football means high pressing, high fluidity and movement tactic. Therefore it has to include Counter-Press, High D-Line, High LOE, intense pressing, short passing, roaming and creative freedom.

Hey! i'm well aware of the tactics, and can assure you a lot of research before hand goes into the tactics before... can i ask, have you tried it before commenting or opinion based of the instructions you see? playing 1 CB, as a Libero just would not work on the game. so to compromise was two BPD using Stay Wider replicates that shape. Using DLP D changes the structure of the team fluidity, so like you said, team was very fluid but you can not achieve that by using Attack and Defend duties, which is explained in the video...If i use instructions you say, team becomes more structured. F9 did not work, therefore i used CF. F9 stays central. Cruyff's strikers did not stay central, they can drop, cover LW or RW when they make their move inside i'm not sure why the Van Gaal comparison? and regarding team instructions, again, i explained why i did not use Counter Press, reason being, they already are counter pressing, players further up the field, along with urgent pressing, is pretty much counter pressing when opposition has the ball, specially in deep areas i don't take offence from suggestions, but i also do suggest you to try it before the commenting. They way you think FM works may be different. Just because you don't use Counter Press, does not mean there aren't ways you can't Counter Press

also we have to understand that FM interpretation of player roles are/may be different to what we believe it to be. By me simply changing the DM to DLP changes a lot of things. Our passing direction changes, our passing distances change. Same goes for changing CF to F9, just because we believe Cruyff used a F9, doesn't mean the F9 in game will act the same way, a CF or PF may act closer to what you want to achieve.

@@fmscout hey. Since Cruyff says in one video that he used to defend with a back 4 and would use of the cm in the diamond to go to fullback I tried replicating the formation by using a 4231 with the one DLP , one AP and a SS , the AP would be on the left and the fb on the right was an IWB who would cover on the right side of the midfield , my lb was a FB on defend duty with an instruction to sit narrow and my rcb was asked to go wider this (almost) gave me a back 3 while attacking and a back 4 while defending the rest of the instructions where more or less like yours and in that season I won the championship w Torquay in a season where the board expected to not get into a relegation battle.

@@fmscout I understand enough and have tried different options. Your representation is not accurate. You can add PIs to role if you need to. You can have a F9 with Roaming and Move Into Channels - this way he drops deep, looks for space and moves side to side. I gave you examples of two 343 variants to compare and contrast for a reason. Did you watch the games? All the details can be taken from there. Of course these are sample games but they give a very good blueprint on how to create a better interpretation of the tactic than what you have created here. Same with your Pep's Barca tactic a few days ago.

If i could create a better representation, it would still be inaccurate, what you’re asking for is perfection. I created something thats both fun and plays good football similar to the 343. Same goes for the Pep video, and all the other videos, comprises had to be made to make a fun for FM. otherwise theres no point because it’s impossible to replicate a tactic. Its a Football Manager channel. If this was a Football Analyst channel then different story. Everything is explained in the video. I hope people research themselves on Cruyff, which i recommend in the video. This is not an exact replica, which is explained in the video. I comprised a lot, which i explained, so I’m not exactly giving people wrong information, i never said this is exactly how Cruyff had it
