Actually I wanted to ask for that. It was pretty famous tactic at that time and although watching Stoke's games was depressing, it was very effective. Long passes, headers, set pieces and Stoke was safely in the mid-table.

I like it when you can analyze real game tactics and replicate it on fm. Sometimes player instructions and player roles are too confusing, especially with high technical tactics like tuchel's, pep's, nagelsman's, etc. Keep doing this mate !

Like i said in the video. We make Player Roles complicated...we focus too much on the "correct" role name, instead of basing it off the movement the Role gives when watching it.

been tryng to replicate this tactic in my save, but have'nt being as succeseful as yours. My MUFC side is curretly ranked with the most goals conceded from indirect free kicks in the league with 11, didn't change any of the set pieces routines from the tactic itself. We creat chances, the second team with most shots on goal, but the players just don't but them away. Maybe is something to do with the training that I'm not getting it right? Any insight would be aprecciated, thank you and good job with the content ;) Keep it up RDF!

Do you feel Ferguson played with such a high pressing style or have you applied this because it's FM? I would have thought that Ferguson played very compact while defending. Think the issue with this game is that the only way you seem to be able to be effective is with high pressing and so didn't know if this was choice because of the game or something you actually feel Ferguson preferred?

I know this is probably a simple answer but this looks a great tactic, I'm interested in why you didnt choose a BWM for the more conservative midfielder, it doesnt have too many Pi's locked in so I wondered if it was some hidden stat or anything? :)

BWM would be too aggressive when considering a two-man central midfield. The role which has the 'close down more' and 'tackle harder' instructions as default would compromise the defensive shape of the flat-four midfield, making it easy for the opposition to create play. As said in the video, it was about organization and teamwork. Hope that helps.

Given Sir Ferguson himself has said that he didn't play 442 then it's a bit odd to see people saying he did. With the 98/99 side it was a 4411 with Yorke behind Cole. Going further back it was McClair behind Hughes then Cantona behind Hughes. Then Cantona behind Cole.....and so on. Granted there may be the odd games here and there where he did go with two up front but generally the front two were a 1-1 setup. Even Tevez and Rooney though they interchanged from game to game and even during a game.

Though i agree, it is just a shape... I'm not expecting the team to be shaped 442 consistently, i do expect to have a 4411 shape out of possession. Same as SAF didn't have his shaped 4411 for 90mins, that 1 moved up and then created 2 in transition....Same goes for Arsenal, our invincible season was actually similar in that Bergkamp was behind Henry, but the role he played made, made it more a 442 in transition

That's pretty similar to mine mate including Bruno as a wide midfielder with specific int nstructions. James isn't Giggsy though especially as he's not left footed. What i disagree with is that Keano was definitely a BWM and best ever no doubt!!! Scholesy was a roaming playmaker at first and with his traits like get into box etc he gets up there to join the attack. Good effort though, I'll give you 8/10

I could've played Beckham as wide playmaker, but that comes with the automatic instruction "cross less often" but one of the biggest strengths of Because was his crossing ability, so we wanted him to cross more often

wow! I had a save with Norwich. And I remember everytime I played vs 4-4-2 always found it super difficult. So decided to try the 4-4-2 super aggressive, always pressing with attacking wing backs. The wingers would be Inside minded. Effectively I was attacking with 6-7 players. With some smart wonderkid signings in 4-5 years Norwich was the strongest team in Europe - I won absolutely everything.
