@@Jack-cc3qm Yes, they certainly were. The Far Side is easily the second best comic strip of all time behind Calvin and Hobbes. I made a Far Side dub video once, but I had to take it down because of a copyright takedown notice from Gary Larson.

My son and I bonded reading C &H over the years. We have the total 4 book set. My son passed away at 23 yrs, so I jump at any chance to read them.

We need more Calvin and Hobbs today, badly. Goes same for the Dark Side and even (reaching back in time) Pogo. That was when cultural introspection was fearless, apt and funny.

@@diamondjim7560 Yeah. The Far Side does release some occasional new comics on Gary Larson’s website, but Walt Kelly is dead, so I doubt Pogo will ever return.

@@SuperJamz64But you can buy POGO books, and perhaps borrow from your local library(I hope!). I have many books collecting classic comics, including Pogo, C&H, disney Duck stories by the great Carl Barks, For Better or Worse, Popeye, Dick Tracy, Little Lulu, Little Nemo, and others.

Remember the one when Calvin’s parents are walking down the sidewalk and they see snow people in peoples front yards and then they see a snowman with two heads and they say that they can always tell when they have got back to their house? I once built a two headed snowman near our mailbox 📫 after reading that story. I wonder what people thought when they saw it

Yeah, I originally did the RRGHH sound myself, but then I realized t sounded pretty much like the Thwomp/Whomp sound effect, so I just used that instead.

@@huntercoleman460 Yeah. Vulgar merchandise like that goes completely against the spirit of Calvin and Hobbes and is why I understand why Bill Watterson never licensed it. But there’s other unofficial merchandise that’s tasteful and remains in the spirit of Calvin and Hobbes that I have no problem with. I have an unofficial Calvin and Hobbes t-shirt, a tea cup, 2 blankets, and even a stuffed Hobbes.
