Eventually with oversampling inside Metaplugin… but anyway I deal with saturation before the limiter. Thanks for the heads up!

Cheers, my friend! Yes, my stance exactly: I prefer to separate the two anyway. Thanks for watching!

Would love to see a comparison like this for Sonible vs izotope, ozone vs the smart bundle
@palebluedotstudios8 ай бұрын
I am 100% working on that. Izotope stuff does very well for me on this channel, so that's exactly what I've got in the pipeline! Thanks so much for the feedback! Cheers!

Good comparison We use smart limit ( with no saturation) it does its job well in a nice and clean manner 👍🏼🏴☠️✌🏼

Agreed! And thanks!!

Thank you for pointing out the issue with saturation. I have smart limit and haven’t used it much because I could get better results with other tools. Wonder if I was hearing that inharmonic aliasing. I have fast limiter as well and have used it from time to time
@palebluedotstudios2 жыл бұрын
Glad to be of help! I hear you. I still like to use other tools during mastering, but the speed, efficiency, and clean limiting of smart limit keeps me coming back. I find FAST Limiter's resonance and transient tools very appealing as well..I want to do some deeper tests on FAST and do another video. Anyway, thank you so much for watching! Cheers!

@@palebluedotstudioshave you done any more testing with Fast Limiter? Unless it actually sounds different from smart:limit, it seems superior.
@research8564 Жыл бұрын
I would have liked to see the audible range of the aliasing. If it's in the inaudible range, then one could argue that the benefit of a louder result is worth it. Maybe I missed that part?
@palebluedotstudios Жыл бұрын
When I look at the RX spectra, I see aliasing going all the way down to around 2khz. Now, I will say that practically no one could probably pick that out, and so many recordings must have plugin aliasing in them already. But why have it there in the first place? A simple 2x or 4x oversample would go a long way. Cheers!

This was really cool! I actually had never seen these before. How do you feel like they compare to the limiter in Ozone 10? That the one I use, but not for any conic reasons. It’s just the one I have.
@palebluedotstudios2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Ozone 10 is surely worthy-and you get a whole suite of effects with that-but I personally prefer smart limit. Cheers!

great comparison, thank you. I bought the Fast bundle for 99,- EUR with an offer that you get if you own a Novation product. I'd really like to know if the pure bundle uses the same AI tech. that the fast bundle does.

As far as I know, it's all the same engine, just with different controls. I'm going to ask Sonible! Thanks!

inharmonics you say? that's exactly what I'm looking for in my electronic bass music i make. it's too clean so i'm trying to dirty it in subtle ways such as this.

@illupoesperto52682 жыл бұрын
good video thanks. can you suggest a good plugin for saturation?
@palebluedotstudios2 жыл бұрын
My pleasure! Off the top of my head, some great free plugins with saturation are: TBProAudio GSat; Melda MSaturator, Klanghelm IVGI, anything from Analog Obession, and Nick Crow TubeDriver. For paid ones, I like FabFilter Saturn, Waves Vitamin, and Newfangled Audio's Saturate. Thanks so much for watching!

So having the smart limiter, do you think it’s worth having the fast limiter for the extras?
@palebluedotstudios2 жыл бұрын
Tough call. I actually wound up buying the whole FAST Bundle, as Focusrite did not respond to review requests. I would say: if you have smart limit, don't bother with FAST Limiter. But if I had to choose between the two, I'd probably go with FAST Limiter now. Cheers!

Does Ozone add aliasing the same as smartlimit does?

I believe so, unless you're working at higher sample rates. I'll go back and test to make sure! It's been awhile! Cheers!

Silly that you said to avoid the saturation and yet you never let us hear what the plugins sound like without saturation!

It sounds the same just a bit louder. Saturation is perceived loudness..

@@FC-xc3zy Not all saturators are the same..!
@FC-xc3zy10 ай бұрын
@@alandeacon1988Of course not all are the same. It is why I have over a dozen saturators. but engineers use saturation at the mastering level for loudness and not colour. If you want to add colouring at the mastering level then something is really wrong.
@palebluedotstudios10 ай бұрын
I probably could've been more clear with that; perhaps an A/B or something. Just so you know, the saturation is on by default at the start of the test. Thanks for pointing that out! Cheers!
