There's no going back for him, he has too many blood an his hands, any different step that he takes will only make things worse, and he has little influence compared to the big picture. So he can either kills himself now or keep moving forward fighting for the few people that he cares until he dies in some battle and can rest.

When Reiner confronted Falco and made him "rephrase" what he said, he did it because he knew that if someone ELSE heard it they wouldn't give Falco a second chance so he showed him that scary demenor make sure he kept those kinds of words to himself in public.

The warriors are all kind people who support each other because they got dealt bad hands in life. Also please don't forget about Bertholdt. He also grew up in this walled, oppressed environment. And while Reiner lost himself during their mission to Paradis, Bertholdt was fully aware during their mission and knew he was in the frontlines of their war for 5 years. He also very much was aware of the eldians in Paradis not being devils and how much damage he's dealt to them. And still he had no choice, because he also had family in Marley, and knew just how big the world against them was.

this is what i want to get out of their discussions, they seemed to forget?? that bert annie and reiner ALL GREW UP in this walled town/city where all your life since childhood, you are being told you are a devil and you have to repent for your sins and you are subhuman? they seemed to forget it idk how. they seemed to forget that these people are constantly in fear of getting EATEN BY DOGS AS A CHILD and being turned into a titan for eternity if they misbehave in any way? these are the most oppressed people in the series imo

@@jefplus fully agree, lots of people don't appreciate the difference in how Eldians live in Paradis vs how Eldians live in Marley. The juxtaposition is that while RBA were on a terrible mission cut off from support/family in Paradis, those were the only years they lived their lives free from oppression-- this is part of why they are so torn.

I love this episode because it gives off a big brother and sister vibe from the warriors and the warrior candidates.

While this episode sits between the action packed premiere and the emotionally charged third episode of season 4, I feel this was an extremely important episode to understand Reiner's current situation (the next episode is for understanding his history). Reiner returned home after nearly dying (multiple times) on Paradis only to be immediately shipped off to a new front in order to prove he was not a liability while simultaneously knowing, regardless of how well he performed, there were those vying to literally eat and replace him in the near future. He returned to his "hometown" and and NO ONE can relate to him. Bertholdt is dead. Annie captured or worse. Pieke and Zeke while present in the final battle on Paradis, cannot fathom the three warrior's infiltration of Scouts or the effect that it had on them. Reiner is constantly facing questions like "What were you doing on Paradis?" "Why did you make it back?" I feel this episode does an amazing job of simultaneously giving you information that is extremely sad and even depressing while disguising it in otherwise happy settings (or the reverse). A beautiful sunset is accompanied with Reiner seeing his friends and himself as kids, a family dinner is accompanied with Reiner's vain (and sarcastic) attempts to shit talk the people of Paradis, a reunion at a train station is in fact people returning to a ghetto with many of them having shattered minds and bodies, etc. This is the episode where one begins to see Reiner's incredible ability to stay alive may not in fact be a gift, but a curse.

Why Reiner has Split personality? Well, aside from living 2 traumatic lives, one in Paradis island and other in Marley, he has the memory of all past armored titans... I think any of the 9 titans could suffer from this.
