Some people find the final time lapse upsetting and though I can sympathize, I don't agree. It resolved one of the main worries I had about how the series would end, because ultimately Isayama had made the drama circle around the human condition and there is no real solution to it. A hundred years or a thousand years, people will end up killing each other again; even with their best efforts our main cast cannot have created a utopia.

I agree, i was one of the critics when i first saw the ending in the manga. But as the time passed it grew on me and now is one of my favorites finales finales ever. Is very realistic, this is was the message that Isayama wanted to show us since the beginning. Even with our best efforts the future is unclear, is very unlikely that truth peace can ever be achieved by humanity, conflicts and war will always happens for so many different reasons for things that are beyond our control. But on the same time we have the subtle message that we will always have hope for better days too, always hope to do right the thing.

They lived 4 years together and in peace, memory bro, I mean it could be a dream if that ur interpretation but for me, they were older in the cabin that when they run away, eren said the marlyan war ended 2 month ago so its means they live quite a bit there and dont forget Zeke waited for 10 years in the paths for eren so its a good interpretation. It more tragic though, mikasa killed the person she lived and love for 4 years when the memory came back.

In the final scene, the bird peel off Mikasa's scarf. This means that Eren wants Mikasa to forget about him and start a new life. And Mikasa started her new family only after 10 years of mourning and waiting, which Eren told Armin. In Mikasa's heart, her eternal first love was Eren, so she wore the scarf until the moment of her death. True pure love. What the author wants to convey to us is that people are born to love and should live satisfied with small happiness even in everyday life. Anything else means nothing. Love everything.

Do we even know for sure Mikasa had a husband, kids etc.? You see people in the time lapse, but those don't need to be her new love and offspring, though it would be preferable she had moved on at some point. Also Eren was not just some guy she loved, but an integral person in her life. People wear mementos of even their past family and friends, people want to be buried with their past family and friends and that tree holds a special place for the whole trio even without Eren being buried there.

Eren died for nothing, he failed to protect Paradis from getting genocided by the outside world, he killed his own mom, turned into a stupid bird so that Jean can plow Mikasa, whucu mind you they show off their kid in front of Eren's grave! Literally SNL comedy skit right there! Lmfao Hagjme Isayama is the Todd Howard of mangakas, hope that failed internet cafe owner never makes a shitty manga ever again!
