Firstly , aot is not some dumb shonen manga with powerscaling as the main focus , it tells an amazing story . Secondly , are you saying that titans being around in a show called "Attack on titan " is a bad thing ? And lastly , aot well deserved the attention it gets and I would go as far to say it's quite underrated .

2:44 that's not really an inconsistency, In S2 episode 7 armin armin explained that in colossals last appearance he disappeared immediately but in episode 7 he maintained his form, acted as a furnace and slowly disappeared. The explanation for this is very simple, the reason most titans slowly deteriorate is because they can't contol the steam they emit, which is basically the flesh and bones turning into steam but colossal titan has complete control over his steam so he can release all of it instantly and make the body disappear quicker. In s1 colossal titan released a huge cloud of steam to get away quickly. The reason we never saw this again was because it was not needed at any other point in the story.

I'm honestly surprised he even got a job as a mangaka, and the series blew up before the anime. You have to have great art along with a great story to get that job and gain interest. It felt like only the only redeeming parts of his early art were how he drew the Titans. He improved tremendously at everything else, at least, but those early chapters were almost unreadable.

Not really an inconsistency but in the first episode the anime didn't include the part of the manga in Eren's dream where Mikasa said "see you later" and also didn't include Eren asking why her hair grew longer... both which you know... foreshadow the entire ending? It's pretty much the only issue I have with the anime.
@Pharien
@Pharien 16 күн бұрын
another inconsistency is that armin had hair when he came back as the colossal titan. titan shifters can cut their hair without it growing back like a lost limb or something. it doesn’t regenerate like the rest of them, it’ll just grow normally. so armin shouldve stayed bald when he came back to life, and his hair should’ve grown back naturally

I think it was so minor that keeping it perfectly consistent would've only hurt the story (bald Armin would not look right.) The only explanation I can think of is that Ymir had to recreate Armin's body manually and decided to keep his hair as it was his main form.

@loganshalloe5927

2:29 I think it can be assumed that the colossal has the ability to turn its bones into steam (if it wants to) not just its muscle. I know that in S3 against Armin, Bert only used his muscle to make steam, but that's because he needed his skeleton to remain standing in the titan form. In 2x7 he somehow snaps his own ribs so he falls down on top of Reiner and Eren. He could have decided to dissipate his ribs there so they break. Also the explosion ehen he hits the ground is made of steam, and we don't see any bones or remains of the colossal. He just seems to completely turn into steam (again).
@RikoDiko
@RikoDiko Ай бұрын
Ahh interesting I didn't think of that but it could make sense. The only problem I see is during the fight with the colossal Armin attaches his ODM gear to the bones because it doesn't evaporate when the colossal emits steam. I guess it's possible that Bert would burn through the muscles first, then the bones, and because he was still fighting decided to only burn through the muscles. Which would explain it. Thank you.

I’m going by memory, but I’m pretty sure in the anime, all (besides two) Titan transformations are accompanied with a strike of lightning and an explosion, vaporizing and destroying everything that’s adjacent or nearby. However, Eren’s first and second transformations (mainly his first) don’t do that. It should have vaporized the Santa Titan and everyone in that town would’ve seen the transformation. Not that I care, but I always thought that was an interesting little inconsistency. It made for a good plot twist though.

There is an explanation to Eren's Attack Titan being smaller in some scenes. Hange found out through experimentation that if Eren had been shifting too many times in a short span, his titan form would become smaller with each transformation - kinda like a shifting fatigue.

To clear up two points: The size scaling may be Isayama's drawing, but it will also be to exaggerate sizes. For example, in the anime when Eren pushes Bertholdt, he's made purposefully look smaller to exaggerate the Colossal Titan's size for the tension/intensity. For the reason as to the Colossal vanishing, the Colossal can emit steam, by using up its bodily material. We know that the rate at which it is done can be controlled. In S2x6, Bertholdt slowly emitted steam to keep the Scouts off him for as long as possible. At the fall of Wall Maria, Bertholdt will have immediately expended all his bodily material to "vanish" as the Warrior operation was to smoke out the Founder by breaking the walls, and so combat was unnecessary.

I read somewhere that this is considered to be “artistic preferences” to further accentuate certain feelings. For example, 3:34 this shot was a moment away from Berthold kicking Eren like a football. Eren was so insignificant compared to the sheer size of a colossal titan, which is why Isayama drew Eren that small to really make the viewers feel that insignificance.

I'm one hundred percent sure that Isayama came up with the idea that there are titans in the walls before the first chapter was even published. So it's more like a design mistake exactly. Obviously the flattened feet of the colossal titan, is a foreshadowing of the titans in the walls, who need those feet to fit into the walls. I actually like Wit's solution better, where they made the colossal's feet regular. Because the same flattened footings of the colossal as the wall titans seem to me to break the internal logic. Obviously, the colossal titan came long before the wall titans, like the other 7 titans (I don't count the founder titan, because he was the very first and everyone descended from him), and he didn't need such flattened feet. Whereas the wall titans were created specifically for the wall where there was a need for such feet. It's a shame, really, that Mappa in the most recent movie forgot about this one, and made Colossal Eren and Armin's feet flattened. Although in the first part of season four, when Armin destroys Marley's port, the feet were like Wit's. The instant disappearance of the colossal is probably the most controversial moment in the AOT plot. Nothing else but another feature of the colossal titan is hard to explain. Apparently it's all about the fact that many people think this ability is the same as burning one's flesh to emit steam. But if you consider instant vaporization as a separate ability, it gets easier. You could certainly say it's more of a plot hole, since this ability isn't mentioned or used anywhere else. But Isayama repeatedly introduced some titan ability for the sake of one spectacular scene, and didn't use it anywhere else. Remember, for example, Rainer's miraculous rescue when he transferred his consciousness into his body so he wouldn't die at Levi's hands.
@bluedirewolf4492
@bluedirewolf4492 17 күн бұрын
I'd be fine with instant vaporization of its muscles, especially as a midpoint between its explosion and its steam, but that still doesn't explain what happened to its bones. If Berthold had any control over making his bones disappear, he would've done it against Armin, especially since he was supposed to have mastered the Colassal.
@erzamoksha5279
@erzamoksha5279 17 күн бұрын
@@bluedirewolf4492 Of course, I was referring to the instant vaporization along with the bones. Because there's no other way to explain this disappearance. That's why I say it's easier to treat it as a separate ability, since it was discussed that slow vaporization only affects muscles, not bones.

I'd say, height is indeed very inconsistent throughout the whole show. I see that as an artistic mistake and very rarely that mistake helps the narrative. I will agree the language is a mistake that is easily forgotten by the voice actors, since they all speak the same language in the anime, we don't actually think about it. About the first scene of the colossal titan, the only thing I can think of is that Bert created some extra steam, and Eren wasn't that smart at the time to try to investigate. One thing that always bothered me is that the first episode explosion doesn't seem to be as strong as the one in the Shiganshina war, the only explanation I would have for that is that the titan user can somehow hold back on the explosion (which it would make sense to not damage the wall).
@Ellik8101
@Ellik8101 5 күн бұрын
One more major size inconsistency is the size of the 15m titans vs the walls. Specifically, The Armoured Titan should be 15m tall, i.e. 1/3rd the height of the walls. However, in the Return To Shiganshina arc, when Reiner is climbing up to where Erwin is standing, Reiners titan is seen as dramatically smaller than the walls. Annie even seems slightly larger when she's trying to climb out at the end of Season 1

I just assumed the Colossal being able to vanish into thin air was due to Berthold's expertise on his titan, there are couple scenes of Reiner and the Marleyan military praising him for that and we've seen evidence of him having much better control than Armin on their transformations, for instance, Berthold can not only generate partial transformations but also decide wether he explodes as shown during Eren's kidnapping, while Armin wasn't capable of that as implied during the flying boat heist; I think Berthold's skills and the Colossal's ability to burn itself up made that possible

Really intersting. Its increfible how few they are until chapter 135. Just genius writing I always was thinking that the biggest mistake until that was Armin survived after being grilled, aright, could be but on top after falling 40m down as well? I think he should just have made a shot, where we see Armin after that slowly hanging down with his gear still attached to Berholdt's teeth and the with Bertholdt collapsing somehow gently landing on the building. Just in the backround of the shot were Bertholdt's Titan collapses, not to obvious but still as a detail to come back. And then I wonder why you did ignore everything from chapter 135 onward. It's a load of plotholes and especially inconsistencies with the story. Wait, I will get a list of stuff I immediately noticed after watching the last 1h episode. So this not even every inconsistency and still the list is long

•Why does the war hammer just stay still for at least 10 minutes in series time instead of killing Pieck? •The Titans should have reached the airship platform long ago in such a long fight. Do you know how high their pace is. •It was established that Zeke's copy, like the War Hammer Titan with Lara, is connected to Eren through a cable and when Zeke's copy is separated from it, it is dead. Later, all those Titan shifter copies are completely loose. •Why can Armin just go into the Path World without unlocking the Founding Titan powers? Before it was such a big thing. Eren could only reach that place with unlocking the Founding Titan's Powers. There Armin just makes Focus and Believe no Jutsu •How the hell can Zeke and Armin turn the spirits of the dead Titan shifters into Titans? •Zeke was able to get out of there the whole time, so Eren's plan is absolutely stupid? •Why can Eren just get up again and turn into a gay colossal Erentan? He would need Founder Powers for that, but considering the rumbling just stopped before when he lost connectiom to Zeke by Zeke dying Eren lost the Founder Powers that moment. Either way, the Rumbling should have been not stopped at that very moment or Eren should have lost the other Founder Powers that moment too. You can't just rob him some Founder Powers and let others stay to bend the plot. Other shows do somethinh like this all the time. But from AoT we expect better. •Why do you need gas to turn the NPCs into eating Titans like Zeke, even though Eren and the beast have the Founding Titan power and can influence and change Eldia as they please anyway (they don't actually have the Founding Titan power anymore because Zeke is dead, but they always have because of the plot holes before) •Why can Eren erase Mikasa's memories, she is an Ackermann? That's the whole point of the Ackermans. There memories can't be altered. •Why does Mikasa know where Eren is in the Titan just by intuition (that's so quality of normal anime, but not AoT)? •Why aren't Jean Connie and the others naked after they were turned back into humans by the eating Titans and have their 3D Maneuvers •If all the memories, that Eren created in Armin and co in the Path World with the Founder Powers, return because the memory erasure by the Founder Titan Powers was erased from the world when the Titan Powers disappeared, the memory that Eren created in them with the Founder Titan Powers also had to be erased too. But through Plitconvinience that Magic still stayed in the world. •How the hell did Mikasa get Eren's head to the tree And that are just objective Plotholes. There are so many indirect Plotholes or at least bad character writing that you can't call objectively wrong, but considering everything highly unlikely and stupid and lazy writing. Best example here is Zeke after wondering for thousands of years in the paths there, what the meaning of life is, becoming so nihilistic, but not a single time did came up with "maybe its the small things". And then Armin just completely making the character shift by that, that is so unbelievably unconvincing. If it was good writing thers, Zeke (I mean we are talking about Zeke, a very very intelligent person) would have went through that idea of the small things, that have no meaning reproducing, could be meaning of life, a thousand times already, but then also started to doudt this, also does take into account that probably in a long way seen those things probably even also only have an evelotionary backround as well (which one could argue, thinking in many directions). And then, the moment Armin came up with this, Zeke's answer could have been something like "Yeah I did think so too, but in the end, I can't tell. I really can't tell anymore ..." One thing i noticed atleast in the anime was when zeke appeared in shiganshina in s4 to meet up with eren, he was on top of the outer city gate, but considering he was on his way there from the forest of giant trees which was on the inside of wall maria, he should be appearing at the inner gate instead. Cant really think of a reason why he would waste time going all the way around the city to the far side when time is of the essence.

It was explained. When the collosal holder shifts they can control how fast the, transform and powerful the explosion is. The reason the collosal never nuked in S1 is because Marley knows about the wall titans, so an allout explosion near the walls is a stupid decision. Also, thats the reason Berthold only broke the gate and didnt just put a hole in a random spot in Wall Maria. Now i shall put down my Yappachino. ☕️

I think you can argue the warriors just learned the paradis accent. If we compare it to how accents change through time, 1800s english is still intelligible to 1900s people. And same goes for 1900s to 21st century. Im sure it we time traveled back a 100 yrs we can adapt our accents pretty quickly, so same goes for the warrior trio. What about the ultimatum? The king declared that he would flatten the world if the paradis was attacked and retreated to the walls. With the destruction of the world at stake and even though Marley knew it, the Warriors attacked the walls and waited for the king to appear. The only explanation here must be that the Tyburs, having agreed with the King 100 years ago, informed the Marleyan military that there would be no reaction from the paradis, but we do not know. Even if that happened, why did they send 4 kids when they could seize underdeveloped walls with zeppelins, paratroopers and rest of their army?

For me the two biggest plot holes are: 1.) Eldians from S1-S3 were able to guess the names of the enemy titans perfectly well, as those titans had the same names in Marley too. 2.) Mikasa was an Ackerman and so Eren wouldn’t have been able to play with her memories

1 isn't a plot hole. Paradis didn't know the names of the titans; they just attributed their core features to a name that described them. While it is a bit questionable, it's not that unreasonable to assume both parties simply came up with the same name as these were indeed their defining features. Armin never used the colossal’s steam emission to disappear or to burn enemies, so the body stayed behind for a while after he exited it. Considering the Titan body of shifters decay slowly after they exit it, it makes sense as to why it’s still there. The standing up part is weird but we have seen it happen to other Titan bodies, like Eren’s Attack Titan which got decapitated by the Warhammer Titan but it still remained standing, even after he exited the body. It only fell over after the Warhammer shot it down.
