Female titan mystery being easy to figure out was intentional. But even after that, the fact that most of us didn't see Armoured titan and Colossal titan coming shows how well written this story is. Fun fact: Believe it or not, the strongest character in AoT is not Levi but Erwin's horse for carrying dem balls.

@@mediaroom4181 needless to say, spoilers for anime: Probably because Annie was written as this cold and disinterested character. So it was easy to figure out. But Reiner developed a split personality so when he saved Connie, we feel confirmed that he is not Armoured titan

And the best part is, after re-inspection of the scenes, it is clear that Isayama actually gave us enough clues to fit the mystery of the two Warriors. My brother did have some suspicions on Reiner during his 'slicing'of the female titan's hands (saying it was pretty weird for Annie to change directions after spending some time staring at her hand)...I caught hold of it during the canned food scene, but wasn't sure until Ymir basically gave it away. The payoff for attentive watching of the series is by far the highest I've experienced in anime in a long time...

I remember back 2013, when Levi defeated the female titan in the forest. The female titan was noted to be crying and that always bothered me. Now I'm s4 and getting the Warrior's backstory I understood Annie, that was her only chance to capture Eren, end it all and return home but she failed. I've always like Annie, there's also a scene before she transforms where she wonders why she didn't kill Armin back then, Armin is the only one who told her she's a good person hence she felt somehow betrayed when she was led to the underground in the innermost wall.

Great analysis! The more we see and learn about Annie, Berthold, and Reiner, the more amazing characters they become. I can't wait until Annie comes out of her crystal thing.
@NightLongroad
@NightLongroad 3 жыл бұрын
Just a very small note. At that time they didn't know Eren had the founder, otherwise Berthold and Reiner would have probably helped Annie. The way I interpret the crying scene is that even after all the killing Annie had to do those episodes, they were back at square one, but you are also correct that had they captured Eren then it would have been over because they would have found out eventually that he had the founder.

Annie always feel like the girl who act tough and cool but wanting everyone to be nice to her for me. When they talk about the old guy hanging himself, Annie thinks he want to be forgive because she too want to be forgive for what she have done. while beth and reiner wanting to be judged. And just watched the video now, seeing her keep saying sorry to Marco kinda break me.

SPOILERS (if you havent watched the Final season and the Wall Sina Goodbye OVA). When I saw the Female Titan crying for the first time, I was very intrigued, but now that I know how much Annie valued her promise to her father and how insistent she was to Reiner as to just go back to Marley, everytime I revisit that scene I feel so bad for her. Having the full context it breaks me. I am very attached to my father, and I get emotional, because I now know that Annie is crying because failing meant that she couldn't return home to see her father.

Oh my god, I just lose it everytime. What a cruel and beautiful moment.

AoT is the epitome of what storytelling should be. Its original, it keeps the viewer guessing and it actually makes the viewer THINK. Your not just sitting there mindlessly watching a screen, you have to actually think about the surroundings and pay attention to the details to seriously understand what's happening. Personally this is my favorite element of the show, it actually makes you feel SMART while your watching it and I've always loved that factor of AoT. And despite AoT being about giant man eating monsters, Many of the topics in this show are extremely realistic and we can easily relate to them in our world. (Politics, War, Discrimination, ect.) The characters aren't just *characters* they all have different personalities and ways of viewing the world. They have different ways of thinking and acting, like REAL people. Its almost scary how realistic and relatable they act. I also love the fact that they all have a role and part to play in AoT. They aren't just there to make the main character look good, they have a purpose and reason for existing. AoT has all the right elements that a story is ment to have. Its damn near *Perfect* actually. So much time, and care went into the creation of this show. It deserves so much appreciation and respect. And definitely deserves the praise its been given. Edit: Jeez... I said what I said and I don't regret it. You piss babys get so pressed over one goddamn comment. I'm not asking you to agree with me, I could care less about if you think what I said was right or wrong. Attack On Titan is currently my favorite TV show so im going to say good things about it. I'm not the loser clicking onto a video that was literally created to say good things about AoT, just to come into the comments and shit talk anybody who's views you don't agree with. At least have some self respect for yourself you fucking nerd.

It didn't feel right to see what he was chasing, knowing he will never see it himself. I also love that the smallest details in this anime are the most important and sticking ones. I can't describe how much I screamed when they found the photograph in the chamber. With that one photograph it was already told, that there is a way more advanced civilization out there, and that what we knew as the aot universe was actually just a small village. Diana's reveal blew my mind, especially the moment eren realized who she was and immediately felt the need to protect historia. Oh man I could talk about every frame of this anime for hours.

1:28 EXACTLY, what I see some people saying Attack on Titan is bad for, is for not having those "funny joke moments" that you see in the majority of animes, they are unable to watch an anime that is loyal to the main story (While making some improvements) and not making any stupid scene that takes out the height of the situation.

AoT has so many funny scenes, but it's not juvenile funny. A lot of it is dark, dry humor: joking about their situation, death; something to calm themselves down. There are lots of these moments in the manga, some played out with complete straight faces haha (like Eren's "phase" joke)

Attack On Titan is a masterpiece. It was also my first anime, and now that the show is nearing its end, I have to say that there hasn't been a show that could make you as conflicted as this. You talked about how you never know who the real villain si and the fourth season does such a perfect job of reiterating that point, further asking the question: Do the ends justify the means? Probably my favorite thing in the last season was Reiner. I've been really obsessed with B Berthodth and Reiner ever since the beginning since they were the only characters other than Eren, Mikasa, and Armin whose stories were told in the first season, and for them to show the development in Reiner ever since the beginning and the pain he had to endure throughout his life, left me speechless. For Reiner to have the guilty conscience of having caused the death of Marcel, Annie, and Berthodth, directly or indirectly, along with his realization that the people within the walls weren't all devils, thereby causing them to have died for a cause that he made them believe in that turned out to be false... I can honestly say that Reiner is the most spectacularly developed character in the entire show and i truly hope he has a satisfying end.

Loving this review so far, but I have to comment on this already: _"This story has no heroes"_ I'm a manga reader, and let me tell you you have no idea how right that is. The anime already makes it clear there is nobody fully in the right or wrong, but the recent arcs of the manga really push that idea to the foreground. Kruger's line of "Everyone can be a god or devil, all it takes is for people to believe it" is a line that hits harder than almost anything in the story to me. Seriously, AOT has made me think about themes no other story has ever done before. And that alone makes it so important to me. And on the topic of the manga, there are still *a lot* of scenes that may seem "just" slightly important earlier that'll turn out to be *immensly* crucial later on. No spoilers, but one specific reveal puts almost everything Kruger, Grisha, and Eren (so, the Attack Titan holders) have ever done in an entirely new context that it'll make your head spin.

Thats the part I love so much its a lot of provoking thought moments like this. Like Gabby charater shes Eren but from the other side. I force myself to forget about this series because every time I think about it I’m completely drawn into that world, the universe where every little detail feels so. . .perfect. Perfect in such a cruel and beautiful way. I sit there and think about the thought that went into this, our main character that changed in the most beautiful and compelling way I’ve ever seen in story writing, our side cast that’s pushed our main character to be who he is, the cruel world that forces the events to play out how they do, and the amazing use of giving powers actual meaning. In the end, it seemed disappointing how it was finished, but as time goes on I think it was the ending that leaves our minds open enough to think about this masterpiece. Attack on titan has changed me, I used to hate the idea of watching it because of how mainstream it was but I genuinely don’t think I could have forgiven myself if I didn’t watch this.

Unfortunately I don't think any of these hard hitting moments will land. They've already screwed up IMO 2 of these moments in Season 4 gaining them significant backlash in Japan with the latest one. It's just too flat an adaptation at this point. If done right (as in Season 1 quality) these moments would break the internet and easily cement AoT as the best anime of this age, but right now it just looks like an average good anime. Demon Slayer with it's average story but godly production value is getting all the hype.

@MIZZKIE 3 жыл бұрын
Gimme a hug, homie. The Trost Arc needs more love. Most people think that badass super-intense action = best thing ever, but to me, laying the groundwork is one of the most important aspects for creating a serialised story. It was the fact that the Trost Arc was slow in pacing and heavy on the death and despair that we get to appreciate each victory and each new advancement in the later Arcs. We were in Eren, Mikasa, and Armin's shoes right from the beginning, when they were just inexperienced, naive, helpless little kids. Seeing them grow and become stronger makes us feel good and "proud". People tend to forget that the Survey Corps are a select few, a minority in the world where they can face the Titans and defeat them with somewhat ease (don't forget that even the Survey Corps struggles with them). The Trost Arc gives us a more realistic view of the world of Attack on Titan, from the perspective of the weak. But even weak people are not useless, if they do not give up hope and use all they have to stand up against a great threat. To me, a fight where a weak character uses wits and will (but not the deus ex machina kind) to defeat an opponent way stronger than him/herself is much more interesting than an already strong character fighting. Witnessing the impossible being achieved is such an exhilarating feeling. They truly earned that victory. There are hardly any works of fiction that put the time and effort to showcase realistic emotions in such detail as Attack on Titan's Trost Arc. It makes the world of AOT more real and relatable. I believe this is a very important factor as to why many people think "anime/cartoons are for kids"; because they lack those raw emotions.

I never really watched anime like that but Attack on Titan was the exception, it really is a masterpiece. I was impressed on how well done the show was compelled from the plot twists, mystery, character development, storyline and the soundtrack; It really does exceed the expectations of not just anime but even some of today's TV shows. Hell you could even relate to the characters as they felt like real people! I also liked how you highlighted the morally gray, it looks like that concept will be more prevalent in Season 4. Attack on titan may have some flaws but my god, what an anime.

The unfolding of this show is so satisfying. It's planned out, and it treats the audience with respect

I love the shade thrown toward Game of Thrones and "subverting expectations"

Boy after chapter 139 idek what to do with myself. I got the ending spoiled by all the manga readers so i read the last 3 chapters myself. I'm... broken- *in Spain but the S is silent*

Loved and agreed with all your takes! And what a great video! Welcome to the world of anime by the way, your world will never be the same lol. I absolutely agree that, to me, nothing tops attack on titan.

Thanks, I'm watching other animes and I'm probably going to make videos on them, but yea I don't think anything is going to beat Attack on Titan. And thanks for watching!

I still remember stumbling across this anime out of the blue after seeing a BBC news report about the author. To this day I rate it my favourite anime ever.
