The only reason Armin figures things out is because he had enough information while Erwin makes plans on short notice and limited information yet it always has a high chance of success. Remember, he almost captured the female titan with no information and all he used is educated guess. He fooled everyone that they’re retaking Shiganshina and suspected that there is spy from 5 years ago and figured out they want Eren simply because they didn’t swoop in during battle of Trost, it was all accurate. Base on those educated assumptions, he almost captured her but made a simple miscalculation which is comparing a newbie like Eren to a wel train titan like Annie. Now, let’s look at Armin, he figured out all the identity of titans because he had enough information, all he needed to do is get them together like a puzzle and he figured out a way to defeat the colossal by confirming Hange’s hypothesis. So yeah, Erwin is definitely smarter than Armin but idk about Hange.

@Private Weaver realistically speaking it's impossible that the entirety of the world hates Eldia. Attack on Titan takes place in a fantasy world with a human society that acts the same way as ours. From that standpoint, saying that "everyone in the world hates eldians" is nothing but a method to demonize the enemy. An exaggeration What Armin means by "talk things out" isn't about promoting some "peace and love" nonsense. It's about political negociation and trying to avoid unnecessary deaths at war. But that doesn't mean he's rejecting the option to fight, or that he forgives what the world and essentially Marley did to them. If that was the case, he wouldn't have done what he did at Liberio. Armin is the rational side that wants to put an end to unnecessary killing. Eren is the radical side who's just bringing death to innocent people.

Erwin and Armin, arguable the two strongest characters when it came to wit and strategy. Both of them were brave to be willing to throw their lives away for humanity; however to me, Armin's sacrifice was more impactful than Erwin's and it comes down to motivations and character traits. Erwin, whether you want to believe it or not, was insanely selfish to his very death. Sure he gave up his dream for humanity, but he didn't do it because he wanted to, he did it because it was the only thing he could do. If Erwin could've escaped with Levi over the wall and not have to worry about the Beast Titan following them, I wouldn't put it past him to do it. Armin on the other hand is doing it out of necessity as well, but he doesn't have to lie and prep himself up for it like Erwin did, he does it without hesitation. To me, that's what makes him the better choice. Armin is kind at heart, where as Erwin had a bitter selfishness that stuck with him to the very end.

Rosanna Berckley I agree on the strategic part,but Isayama saved him for a reason. Everything that he does to the series happens for a reason. Erwin would have been a much better choice, but he let Erwin die and Armin live for a reason. He has been rather useless since they saw the ocean though. Most of the characters have been disappointing since the timeskip, so I feel like they’re being saved for something important in the final battle...I’m kind of scared to see what in God’s name it is. (Levi has been dying, Mikasa has been crying, Erens been a dick, Reiners been depressed, Gabi + Falco are gaining plot armor, Historia is AFK, Armin is a bystander, Zeke is crazy, The rest of the 104th is tired. The only interesting character right now is Annie.) Sorry for the long ass comment, haha.
