The song including Yui Ishikawa and Yuki Kaji was a truly master move. Both singing as Mikasa and Eren abled the message of the song to reach deeply inside our hearts. Mikasa's voice being louder symbolises her being alive after the war, weeping and mourning Eren, Eren's voice being lower possibly symbolises the fact he died without conveying his true feelings to her. The chorus of them singing together was ethereal, and the part where Requiem began playing, symbolising Mikasa's passing of old age, was heartbreaking.

Hey there ! So as someone who speaks Japanese, I can tell you that these translations aren't particularly good. I took the time to make my own because I felt like this song was worth it. I'll just leave them here in case someone is interested: To you in 2,000 or 20,000 years Even without knowing the names of the mourning flowers, While being left behind by all flighting birds, Nature yet again sprouts; this year, too, spring will come, Leaving the winter behind I sing my grief to the changing seasons, but still You won't ever come home again In the end, it was me who colored your lips red Me, and no one else My trembling neck is wrapped with warmth I would face this cold any time, no matter how often I had to "Fight, fight," your repeating words Are still constantly resounding everywhere Gentle days that time has brought Like an offered flower, I keep your secret words to myself, never telling anyone Requiem, requiem The flowers you used to love on your coffin If you're to forgive my sins, then shine for me, o dawn / The world has broken the boy's sword Yet, he will reach the peak of the skyscraper, And glare down at the Tower of Babel laughing Hatred and wrath are two-edged History repeats itself / "Give birth! Multiply!" While you were filling this earth, Steely birds were released into the sky And freedom turns into a crimson bow and arrow Over and over again Unable to let go off the stones cast at us, we throw them back Cowardly, we raise our gazes to the sky To the death realm, bows and arrows lead like meteors History repeats itself And everything goes back to zero Can you hear me? Leave this forest! No matter how often you might lose the path Even on burned fields, nature sprouted again This is the shadow and light that civilization holds In the cavern under the great tree that has seen it all, What will you learn? La-la-la-la, la-la-la-la To you in 2,000, or maybe 20,000 years from now

what do you think is the "masterpiece" in this ending? What I see is; The thought of freedom was disregarded at kenny's death. The anime forced itself into showing us the truth, but in the end the only thing we learned that isayama thinks "dictators can be justified and emotions are the only thing that makes our life better". Making us think that we are free (althought it was disregarded) and what matters is the after-life. I don't think life is that simple. So in my opinion this episode was just based on making the naruto-gang cry.

@@sin_2 it's never about the unrealistic expectation of freedom, like Eren's idea of an unoccupied world or Ymir's twisted realm that is free of death. It's about the little things in life, in spite of inevitable life, that are worth fighting for.

Words can't describe how much it hurt me when the song started along with the part being shown in this episode. Specially when the boy reached the tree with the dog. I held my cry until that moment but few drops fell out of my eyes out of control & finally when that moment "The End" frame being shown & 4:24, I bawled out. I balwed out hard. AoT, has been my masterpiece ever since I first saw in 2015 January. I have always been anime watcher only & I'm glad I was. From S1 till final season I spent countless of hours talking, arguing, enjoying & making people watch it, making them die hard fan & so on. AoT is without a doubt a true masterpiece that deserves to be Anime of The Decade. At least to me, it will be. There is so many things to talk about it. Plot, Story, ForeShadowing, Real Story, OST, Animation, Character Development & so many things. Thank You Isayama for this masterpiece, & a special Thanks to Linked Horizon for all the Fabulous Opening songs, Ending Songs, Also for the inside songs for the episodes, thanks to everyone. Thank You Horoyuki Sawano, Thank You Kohta Yamamoto & everyone who was in on it from the very beginning till the end. Thank You for existing Attack on Titan! I was so moved that I read the lyrics, but then I saw the English translation of "kikoeru ka, mori wo dero" at 3:50 and I fucking laughed. It's not "I'm leaving the harpoon(銛 mori)" it's "Leave the forest(森 mori)!" Not "deru" but "dero!" imperative form. The rest is not important, but incidentally, 2:33 is a coffin(棺 hi-tsu-gi), not a cypress(檜 hi-no-ki). 2:40 is not "if you are to scatter(散らす) sins," but "if you forgive(赦す) sins." 3:32 is "cowardly(臆病な) humanity," not "diseased(姜病な) humanity." てか、「姜病な」って日本語があるのか知らないし「姜」の漢字ってあんま日本で使われてないし、正直、その漢字見ても生姜ぐらいしか思い浮かばない。

2:58 Hearing this while watching the credits was a very emotional experience for me for 2 main reasons. 1, You just realize all the characters we've grown to love are dead, despite all their suffering and sacrifices Paradis was still destroyed at the end. 2, The cycle will continue. We followed the events of AOT for a very long time, and at the end we realize that these things will happen over and over again, with different characters and events. But the outcome is always the same. It's just so tragic to think that we only saw one of the many many cycles. There were many before the events of AOT and will be after. This show might as well be infinite at this point. I rarely get emotional at anything but damn this got to me.

3:56 I hear 森を出ろ "Do you hear me? No matter how many times you lose your way, get out of the forest." , which makes this part seem like it alludes to the speech Sasha's father gave about how Sasha simply spent too much time in the forest unfortunately. As adults, it is our responsibility to help the children get out of the forest. Also, how did someone mistake モリ to mean 銛 "harpoon" instead of the obvious analogy to 森 "forest"?

3:50 Correction on the translation: given the context, モリ is most likely intended to be 森 "forest", not 銛 "harpoon". It doesn't make much sense for the lyrics to talk about "leaving the harpoon", while "leaving the forest" has symbolic significance in the story of Attack on Titan.

3:50 you mistook 森(forest) for モリ(harpoon) both pronounced the same so I understand why you made that mistake, but it's the reference of Mr. Braus' speech and it's one of the strongest messages that AoT has, so it's a shame that non-Japanese speakers watching this won't understand the reference.
@mihaigaming3596 Жыл бұрын
Linked Horizon songs have lyrics as their strongest attribute, like for example the inclusion of the tower of Babel at 3:05 leading to Babylon which was used in The Bible as a symbol for the corupted nations of the world rebeling against God, deciding themselve's what is right and wrong leading them to an endless path of war, murder, opression, acting out of fear, hate and greed. Putting that over the end credits with the cycle of war continuing is just insane to the level I can't understand how one would even think of that. And that's just one thing in the song and I haven't even dived into this one symoblism fully, maybe not even close. In conclusion PEAK.
