If there as a gas fire in the fireplace below the Jackdaws nest are lethal. The birds will keep dropping twigs until one eventually lodges sideways, you have to admire them for not giving up tbh. There is a tonne of stuff that comes out when you clear one of them out. I was on a job once when a couple.guys were fitting a wood burner found an old birds nest in the flue and didn’t want bother putting the rods up so they decided to drop turpentine soaked rag down and set fire to it and burn it out, anyway two days later it’s still burning and the chimney breast is glowing red hot, they had to call the fire brigade in the end.

Blimey that was dumb, the builder has cleaned loads of crap out, a log burner is going in so it will be swept, a liner fitted and suitable Cowl installed 👍

What did you repair the bricks with Andy please, is it proper brick repair mortar?
@bricklayersworldwithandy62776 ай бұрын
Yes, but most i cut out and replaced, repair mortar is ok but i only use it on awkward bits, most times with old lime mortar just as easy to replace the bricks👍

I had this a couple of years ago with nesting seagulls. The male bird would fly off the roof, circle round and fly at my head. Only the scaffold poles saved my bacon on more than one occasion. On the other side of the roof he would come down the roof to intimidate me whenever I walked “ his” end of the roof. Bloody nightmare! ,
@bricklayersworldwithandy62776 ай бұрын
Yea it is a pain but that's nature,it's actually a criminal offence to interfere with any nesting birds which can lead to imprisonment believe it or not.

I blame the scaffolder who put it up a month late!👍🏻
