Repointing house built in lime mortar with sand and cement is the biggest problem on most houses. Then the big Scam comes of injecting rods

A soft red will suck a pint of water up easy. Not sure on a pint or beer? Lol. Be a waste. Damp sure so many factors. Leaking guttering or broken guttering the biggest cause. Did a re-point in lime mortar and put weep vents in the purps outside low down. Wall breaths and really helps. Customer has no damp at all

Rising Damp is an industry, not a physical thing. If you have damp walls, you have a source of water that shouldn't be there.
@IzzytheBricky5 ай бұрын
Really interesting point mate...clear as day, no damp there! Perhaps it's to do with the type of brick as you mentioned. Softer clays vs engineering maybe. I remember watching the "Skill builder" KZbin channel regarding rising damp. He seems to have some really valid points explaining why it's a thing. Hope your well mate and enjoying the "Summer" so far😂

I will do another vid on softer bricks that should soak up water, unfortunately Roger thrives on being controversial for views.

@@bricklayersworldwithandy6277 He also wandered around a beautiful Dutch town saying English bond was Flemish and Flemish was English. It's worth a watch because of the brickwork however.

Every time I've seen it... when the cavity is full from the footing ti above the damp.... fired clay don't let water in.....maybe through tge mortar bed... but it's always a filled cavity... if its not another cause
@bricklayersworldwithandy62775 ай бұрын
Yes ive seen that, strange as the mortar should be the same porosity as the bricks so it would have to be a weaker mix to allow the passage of moisture.
@mervmervalot22965 ай бұрын
@bricklayersworldwithandy6277 . clay isn't porus... as we know.... but maybe the compo mix is.... over time and a full cavity also breached into the inside leaf... ... I don't know just speculating
