Efim Geller gives a masterclass in an energetic attack on the uncastled king. Although his opponent Lev Psakhis does everything to prevent Geller's freeing pawn advance, Geller still carries it out. By sacrificing two pawns Geller gets the lead in development, opens the center, and launches a deadly attack on the enemy king with all his pieces.

Geller, born in 1925, was in his late 50s when he played this gem. Incredibly, he was still ranked 10th in the world in 1981 at the age of 56. A timeless warrior and one of the fiercest competitors at the chessboard.

There are only four chess players I consider 'beasts' in chess. Players who won by force of correct play and tactical genius: Alekhine, Geller, Kasparov and Fischer. I see a Geller game, I click. I am a simple man

@@dhieuayuen1467 Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura, Faby Caruana, just to name a few, they make the old masters look like patzers. Of course they know correct play according to Stockfish but nevertheless they are better.

@@raylopez99 You can't really be sure of that since we are never going to be able to see them playing against the old masters.

@@tellahsage6477 But you can. The old masters are compared to Stockfish who is compared to modern masters. It's the transitive property if you know geometry. If A = B, and B = C, then A = C, but instead of equality we are using "greater than" symbol.
